May have lost a local

It calls it an eclipse, but also states it's a four door. Looks like an Evo to me.

Definately an Evo...and not light blue as they indicate.

Be careful out there. Being in the Fire Service, I have seen too many needless wrecks like this one. Seriously...Be careful out there, especially with the summer driving months coming up.

A small car crashed through a house in north suburban Waukegan early this morning, killing the driver and leaving its two passengers and a 78-year-old occupant of the house injured, authorities said.

The 2005 Mitsubishi Evolution was southbound on Glenwood Avenue around 1:15 a.m. when it missed a curve and drove through the front yard and into a bedroom of the one-story brick home in the 2200 block of Grove Avenue.

The 23-year-old driver, who was dead at the scene, was identified as Ian Cook, of the 600 block of North Lewis Avenue in Waukegan. The two passengers, a 22-year-old Waukegan woman and a 24-year-old Gurnee man, were taken to Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan where they were treated and released.

A 78-year-old woman, who was sleeping in another bedroom with her miniature schnauzer, was treated at Victory for scrapes and bruises and later released. She was pinned by debris during the crash and needed stitches on her left knee, Stevenson said.

Her dog was not hurt and is staying with neighbors this morning, according to Waukegan Fire Department Asst. Chief Dan Young.

"The doors, closets and beds were pushed from the first bedroom into the second bedroom [where the woman was]," Young said. "The woman's bed was upended, and we had to extricate her and her dog."

Young said the car caused roughly $40,000 in damage to the home. No one else was in the house at the time.

Stevenson said police will be reconstructing the accident, a process that could take about week. "We do believe speed played a factor," he said. He did not know whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

If you read the paragraph before the misprint it does say it's an 05 evolution.
