illinois dealers/buying experiences
Watch out at max madsen as well. Dont get jacked on the out the door price, extended warranty, and pitpass. They kept changing prices on me everytime I asked. Otherwise everything went smoothly but the techs there doesnt seem to know much about EVO. Anyone know of a mitsu dealer that knows their stuff? Otherwise Im thinking of going to AMS as they obviously know their EVOs.
Ok...I got mine from the Libertyville dealership. CALL THEM and ask for Erci Sharlow. Tell him Derek sent you and that you want an EVO. he also happens to own one. As long as you drop my name he will give you a good deal. The number is 847-816-6660
When you get it....welcome to the family!!!

Evo Certified Tech
The sales manager at Cub Shaver in Matteson told me that they have a couple of techs who are Evo certified and have documentation to prove it. He said to ask any Mitsu dealer if they have an Evo certified tech available to work on the car.
Where is AMS and do they charge comparable prices for oil changes? My Evo is past due for an OC, mostly because Matteson is such a hike from Rogers Park. I'd be happy to go someplace closer...

Cool, thanks for the info. AMS is out in arlington heights, http://www.automotosports.com/
I emailed them about getting tein coilovers installed, and they said they can do all kinds of suspension work. So I think they will be the place to go when getting aftermarket stuff installed for the EVO.
As far as oil changes, should be cakewalk. I'll be doing my own oil changes, maybe it would be a good idea to do your own as well. I rather get my hands dirty then letting some young kid do it at jiffy lube or something. Is not having a garage your problem?

first,
i got my evo at max madsen in downers grove for under msrp! go to lukas and say that emil from renn-art sent u! he'll hook u up!
second,
i do my own oil-changes over at a shop where a buddy of mine works... it's a cakewalk when the car is up in the air!
don't hold out on that OC too long!.. IMO u should do two pretty quick oil changes when the car is new.. one at around 1000-1500 miles and one at around 3-4000 miles... and then every 3k miles after that..

Oil Changes
I don't even have time to PAY FOR an oil change, so I can forget about doing it myself. I also don't think it's wise to have an Evo as the first car that that I jump under the hood. Maybe back when I had that '83 Omni...
I paid 34k out the door through kade at countryside
Wish I was you man!

Hi guys,
I'll be looking for a dealership in the Chicago area this fall. Lots of great info in this thread, thanks to all who have contributed!
Here's my question: Does anyone know which dealerships may be more/less **** retentive about honoring the warranty with minor mods on the car? I am drooling over this Exede piggyback, but I don't want to have to take it out every time if warranty service were required. Also some really freak out of they find that you were autocrossing the car. I would be okay with paying a little more maybe if I knew they were cool about that stuff.
I know it's kind of a crapshoot with the warranty and all, but I'm just trying to think ahead. Any input??
Thanks and keep the info flowing!

Max Madsen Naperville/Aurora... Bill Jacobs Joliet
Max Madsen Naperville/Aurora asks for MSRP if you get one before they have time to deck it out with their $3K worth of options. Including the $900 for Paint and fabric protectant...
They can F themselves.
I found mine online from Bill Jacobs Joliet. I posted I was looking for an evo with no options or sunroof... only the CF Wing. A dude called me the next day....
Paid like $30,063 for wing only. Last I saw they had a white one in the window.
