Ouch If you can't track down a OEM ECM at a reasonable price, may I suggest upgrading to AEM standalone? Thats probably a good long term choice if you have to replace the ECM anyways....

Ya I fail. Had it sitting in my living room for 2 weeks and I never took pics. I'll snap a few this weekend when I kut back to the shop.

It is a shiny black finish this time. My old setup had flat black ceramic which looked ok, but showed scratches and dings and wear and tear from messing around in the engine bay. The Pro-Kote place also had a "polished stainless look" ceramic finish that was nice too, but their "Black Satin" had the highest temperature resistance so I went with that.

Keep in mind that the material your header is made out of has a big impact on coatings. Thermal expansion of the header will cause ceramic coatings to crack if the coating is not thermally matched/good quality. And if you have a high dollar stainless header, then you don't even need ceramic coating at all. The heat transfer coefficient of stainless is like already around 80-90% lower (depending on alloy) than that of typical 1010 mild steel.

If any of you are planning on getting headers in the near future FYI the best alloys for headers are probably Stainless 304, 316L, 321, and 347. 304 is the most readily available (cheapest) and does a decent job, 316L has a much lower carbon content and will be better at resisting something called intergranular corrosion that occurs in stainless at high temperature (and weakens it over time). 321 and 347 grade stainless are probably your top tier choices, 321 is alloyed with Titanium and 347 with Columbium, these essentially eliminate the issue of intergranular corrosion almost completely (but they are the most money :P ) If you are cash money bawler, you can splurge on Titanium headers which are awesome but hard as hell to make.

Nu, my guys don't do transmission internals. Your best bet there would be to go to Shep or Buscher or TRE. I've talked to John Shep he's a cool guy and very experienced with Evo trans, he's probably your best bet.

Update: Apparently we do have a guy who can do transmission rebuilds. I just found out myself. PM if you want info

My 5th has a syncro grind at high rpm. I just want to drop it off at a shop and have them send it to shep. I want it rebuilt with an evo 8 4th. I think the evo 9 4th-5th is too big of a ratio difference and it just tore up the syncro, but then again I'm not a tranny expert. Where would be a good place to do this? I'm thinking late winter/early spring I'll do it.

yea my 5th grinds at high RPM's also, occasionally though not all the times.

Your only about a 3 hour drive away from Buschur/shep.... You could just drop it off

Evo 9 1st gear
all second gears are the same
evo8 3rd and 4th
evo9 5th

Thats the trans in my car. Built by the best.

if anyone knows of a stock shortblock anywhere let me know!
The 2.4 didnt last 200 miles before it spun a bearing, so i need something to put in there while SBR rebuilds/whatever they are going to do for me. And by the looks of things, it may be a while before i see that motor, esp if i have to get a lawyer involved, etc. So, if anyone knows of one for a decent price, let me know!
