First snow in Chicago!

Well, it snowed for the first time here. It was more of a freezing rain so everything got iced. I have a few pics of my Evo, which got COMPLETLY frosted on all sides. Just look at the pics to see what I mean. They are pretty crappy because I took them at night and dont have much photographic talent, but they'll suffice.

^^^Yes those are a bunch of icicles hanging over my frozen tire. By now they have gotten much longer and have basically fused with the tire.

I can't wait to drive that thing like the rally car it is meant to be. Just waitin on my winter tires to come in. Right now I have super soft Advans, which wont even move the car out of the driveway. Wasnt expecting this storm all of a sudden. The frostiness looks pretty cool though, and the turbo is LOVING the cold weather.

Anyone else getting snow yet? Where do you guys live, and what do you drive when the weather gets crappy? Post your winter pics/pics of whatever you drive. I know some of you baby the Evo and woudn't wanna get any snow/salt on it.

Quick Q: I am debating between the Blizzack LM25's or Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds. They both have excellent reviews at tirerack, but id like some personal input from you guys. Thanks.

NICE!!! We just got our 1st snow in Reno the other day, but it didnt stick... Looking forward to driving it in the snow same as you . Im using Kumho ASX's and the people around here said that would be fine for the snow we got in the valley and up on the slopes, but the roads are really well maintained and don't think its quite as severe as Chicago.

I have the LM25's, no problems at all. Got me through last winter like a champ.

I hope you're kidding. If not, please stay as far away from Naperville and Elk Grove Village as possible between now and March kthnx.

I didn't even drive yesterday, although Jerry (spdrcr456) shot some awesome flames out the exhaust going (sliding) down my street last night.

ahah we have a great snow thread over at midwestevos.com - each state kinda got hit differently this weekend. Us in KC have had it WEIRD- the storm this weekend just missed us, but yesterday it was 60 and rainy. Now today upper 20's as the high and windy. WTF - lots of ice- no snow.

I personnaly put the Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds on mine. Great handling on snow/ice (probably same as blizzack's or a bit better according to tirerack reviews). This past friday/saturday drove about 70 miles and never felt like I didn't have control (unless I pushed the car on purpose ). But where the Sport 3D's shine also is on dry road and rain also... not sure how the blizzack's do there. Overall, I think both are very good winter tires with not too much difference between them.

Anyone know some good places(like parkinglots) around chi suburbs without any light poles that I can take the Evo to, and just mess around? I'd like to have a little fun, but dont wanna do anything stupid or crash the car.
