Missed Court Date= Suspended License

Basically I got pulled over for tints in my car in Cook County. I renewed my insurance the same day I got pulled over and my insurance card was in my beater. The cop gave me a ticket for no proof of insurance. Warning for the tints.

I missed my court date and never got any letter stating what I needed to do. My plates on my car were suspended recently. My relative took my info and went to court to clear everything up. They said write a check for $100 and send it to Springfield.

I got pulled over today during work doing deliveries. Cruised thru a stop sign. Cop's say license has been suspended since the 8th of October. Took me to the station gave me a court date on December of 22nd.

A couple of questions:

Can I clear this stuff up at the DMV show proof of the car being insured at the time of the first time I got pulled over?

Or can I go to the court house and ask for a sooner court date so I can clear my name and get back to work? Also pay what ever fines......

Thanks for looking any input will help. My job requires a driver license and I need to get to school during the weekdays

Any input will help.

I don't live in your state...so my input is just speculation....but I would imagine you should be able to go to the court house and explain your situation in hopes of getting an immediate court date.
Sucks that your in such a crappy situation.

Thanks for your input,

This was my first time ever getting pulled over and it was tints. I've never gotten pulled over or gotten tickets before.

I just hope I can get back to work.

The judge may be nice and drop the no insurance if you can show proof that you had it at that time. But, I'm pretty sure he's going to still hit you on the driving on a suspended license charge. You're probably going to have to wait for your court date also.

I have proof that the car was insured at the time of the first pull over.

The cops were saying to try going to the DMV and explain to them what happened. Because there the ppl who suspend licenses.

DMV will not reinstate license without court giving you Clearance form.

Call a traffic lawyer and get real advice.

Something similar happened to me a few years back. Got a ticket for speeding signed up for traffic school etc.. I never got a e-mail, phone call, letter in the mail stating when my traffic school was scheduled. Told the judge that, and he said mistakes happen and he let it go.

I just got back from downtown.

You have to pay $45 to get another hearing. I went and hired one of the lawyers who bum around in the court house. He basically new the judge and all he did was show my insurace card to the judge and now I have my license back.
