Simple OBD2 help in the Chicago area needed.
What's going on guys, basically I need to find someone who has an OBD2 Diagnostic tool, just to clear a "service engine soon" light.
Basically, my wife needed a jump since she left her lights on and she said she didn't notice (even though she has pop up headlights..
) Anyways, once I gave her the jump I sit in my car and see the light is on and basically I'm pissed cause because of her.. it's now on. It's probably something stupid like a battery amperage spike or some crap, and I know I could probably just pull the negative battery cable for a bit, and it would probably clear, but the problem is that I haven't gotten a letter in the mail yet about emissions testing.. and with my luck it'll come soon and even if it "forgets" the code it'll still be in the ROM of the PCM.. and basically I won't pass emissions because of the code being in the memory of the car.
So in short, basically anyone who has an OBD2 tool that can help me out I'd appreciate it.. I don't like having that light on at all.
And yes I know I could go to the dealer and get it cleared but I don't want to pay 100 bucks for them to bring the car in, plug the tool into the OBD2 port, turn the key, have them push "view codes".. wait for it to read the code, and then push "clear all codes".. All of 2 mins. for 100 bucks, no thanks.
Thanks in advance,
Nate

And Cisco, thanks again for the install. I've only put about 250 miles on the clutch with city driving so I haven't even got the chance to launch the car yet.. but even w/out a tune I can tell theres a lot more low end torque since it spins all 4 just rolling on the throttle in first.. Can't wait to find a part time job to get some $$ together for a WB02 and the simple stuff to get this thing tuned. Working 65+hours a week FTW!!
hey brian, im gonna be in town tomorrow (back from school for the weekend). would you be able to pull the codes for me sometime tomorrow if your not busy? if not dont worry about it, ill just try to go to autozone.
Did you get it cleared bro, IM home right now and can meet you,, IM at montrose and austin
