I don't think you need a lawyer.

Usually you are given 30 days to send your plea. Wait 20 days, then send it as not guilty. Then about a month later you will get a court date which will be like two months away. From the violation to the court date, it ends up being like 5 months. Unless you were an absolute *** to him, he prolly won't make an effort to court. If he does show, talk to him nicely if see you can get a break from him. They usually knock of a few mph to lower the points. If he shows up at the last minute, just say you were moving along with traffic and that to avoid someone you had to make an emergency lane change and didn't have the time to hit the signal. You'll prolly lose but at least you'll go down trying.

That's true. I had a ticket once and when I went to court, the cop didn't show so they dropped it.

Go look for pre-paid legal online or something. I'm sure you can find one.

If you're risking driving or the bus, I'd definitly get a lawyer. I went through something similiar a few years ago; my lawyer was able to get me away with one very minor ticket (and a fine) instead of the automatic suspension I was facing.

I found the guy by crawling the phone book and looking for guys who advertised trafic violations that listed 10 or more years exp. The exp means he will probably know the prosecuter and judge and they will have a working relationship. It helped.
