TSSCC Event #1

Well i had fun today, it was kinda different driving another car. For those of you who don't know the story, I was changing my wheels to the one's with the Falken Azenis on them and was taking off the front wheels. While trying to take off the front right, one of the studs snapped so I could not take the car to the event today.

So my good, good friend let me drive his baby, his 2001 BMW 325. With 100 more horses and RWD, this sounded pretty different from my Lancer. It turned out not to be too different. There was significant understeer but it was controllable. The oversteer was inducable but i could have had more. I wish i could have driven my Lancer today!!

Anyways, the best run i had was around 73.9 seconds. If he didn't have a cold air intake on his car he would have been in some stock class and not STS..so i ended up to be 5th out of 10th i think. But o well it's not my car, he can do whatever he wants.

Working heat #4 was pretty bad. It took about 2 hours to finish and i think we finished around 6:15, maybe it was later. I didnt really check the time because I was so thirsty and wanted to get out of there. The reason we finished so late was because the massive wind we had to was knocking cones over left and right. We had to stop the event temporarily, double up the cones, and finally let the cars have reruns. LOTS of cars had reruns so it was really slow..but it's all in good fun!

Ill try to post of videos tomorrow. I think i have video of Jerry and Bill but Im not sure about Nate..i have to review the tape because i havent looked through it yet. And of course you will see me drive someone else's car lol.

So yea, hope everyone had fun, cause i did (except i got sunburnt and working heat 4 was horrid). But its all cool!

Out of curiosity, which do you prefer, the massive downpour from the Learning Curve or the strong winds of today combined with the sun?

I'd say starting the season in freezing temperatures with snow falling down and then baking/burning oneself during the summer months is the norm for Chicago region auto-x.

Yeah, that was a fun time, except for the cones knocking themselves over at the end! My first "real event," yeah it was great and I'm definitely addicted. Major brainfarts on my part DNFing the first three runs by repeating the same mistake doh! Once I figured that out I was cool, I can sleep well tonight. Very cool and humbling seeing guys like Pete tear it up in an identical car (I heard some Colin was the man on the 4th), lets you know there is so much potential there with practice practice practice.
Yo Jerry, thanks for working it with Amy regarding the Vishnu stuff!
Looking forward to seeing the pics!

and jerry, i forgot to add this to my post before, thanks for even considering me to drive your car. if i knew manual better i would have loved to drive your evo! but thanks for offering me your baby to me lol.

No problem Bob, I would be happy to have you come out to my area and practice on the manual tranny if you would like to sometime. But, an event wasn't the place to practice as you know. If I were to admit the real reason though, I was afraid you would beat my times in my own car, THAT WOULD SUCK.

N8, I don't know if I helped you or not, but her attitude was funny. You could tell her BS detector was at full capacity and she saw through every bit of the attempt. I think we both should have married less intelligent women, of course that has it's drawbacks too.

I will be checking out our video over the next couple days and duplicating the tapes onto VHS for you guys. My wife took some stills too.

Bill has some in car video I am looking foward to seeing!!!

Anyone have access to an area we could set up a few cones to practice in???

Does the TSCC post the scores on their website too, I assume they do???

I have some video of Bob, Nate, and Bob (Anderson I think) with the yellow Camaro and Blue EVO. Now I just have to figure out how to load the video onto my computer. It has a USB port I just haven't tried using it yet.

Bob, I couldn't find any of your friends so I took the pictures eith me. I'll give them back next time I see you.

that would be my car driven by colin fieldler, his first time driving an evo. it is all stockk and he drove it to a first place win in SM by over 1 second. the reason im not driving it is because i have a sweet ride in ESP in a fully prepped z28.

and bob andserson is the owner of the camaro, i'm dan wurzer and i own the bby evo

Sorry Dan, alot of new faces and I get confused sometimes so I apologize.

I will try and have that video converted soon. I couldn't record the entire run, b/c I would lose the cars for a little while behind one if the trailers, but I did record the beginning and the end.

Yeah, Amy's got a keen nose for BS that's for sure! She had fun down there, which really made me happy. Thanks for the sweet pic Bill!! Matches my avatar.
Dan, I met you in the worker assignment line. Yeah, you almost had me convinced to switch to ESP, but I wanted to take my time walking the course rather than changing things around.
I'll definitely be considering what you said when it comes to choosing wheels for next summer. Being able to drive wider wheels, change springs and do a little ecu tuning sounds like a nice place to be.
Yeah, that story with Colin is worth re-telling a few times, unreal to think that he hopped in a car he was totally unfamiliar with and smoked all those modded-out monster cars!
