Axis racing dyno results thread... post um up!
Hey guys,
I wish I had Saturday off so I could watch some of the other guys on the dyno, but such is life right? Since I was first among us to dyno there this time let me be the first to post my results:
Pump gas 311.1 HP @ 6200 RPM and 311 lb/ft of torque @ 4250 RPM.
My peak power was at 6200 RPM and my boost at that point on the graph was 20 psi. The torque peak at 4250 RPM was at 22 psi of boost. I was spiking up to 23 psi and droping to 19 psi by redline.
Then I swaped over to the race gas and loaded in my race gas map results:
332.8 HP @ 6000 RPM and 333 lb/ft of torque @ 4170 RPM.
At the peak power point of 6000 RPM I was making 21.5 psi of boost and at the peak torque point of 4170 RPM I was making 25 psi of boost. I was spiking up to 25 psi and droping down to 19.5 by redline.
Keep in mind these numbers are all on a Dyno dynamics dynometer like the one Shiv uses, commonly called "the heart breaker" dyno.... well, lets just say my heart isn't broken
Using Shivs "dyno equalizer" programe I am making 435 HP at the flywheel on pump gas (equivelent to 366 wheel HP on a dynojet or dynapack) and 466 HP at the flywheel on race gas (equivelent to 392 wheel HP on dynojet or dynapack) . Oh, and with the cat that would be 452 HP at the flywheel on race gas (equivelent to 380 wheel HP on a dynojet or Dynapack) These conversion numbers also agree with my dynojet equivelent power estimates based on my trap speed and the weight of my car.
Keith
PS: What is the stock turbo record on a DD type dyno?
PPS: After I finished tuning I threw the cat back on and did a couple more runs: 322 HP @ 6000 RPM. What is the DD stock turbo with a CAT record ?

Hey Mike,
Didn't any other Evolutionm members dyno over the weekend? Can you drop some numbers for comparison? My main question is what kind of base line do you get on a stock EVO on your dyno. If you have any bone stock EVO dyno sheets I would love to see them for comparison to mine.
Thanks,
Keith

Hey guys I dynoed on saturday with just a AFC tune and my results were less this time with more parts than last time by about 15-16hp. Why I don't know exactly! I am to the breaking point of frustration. My last dyno was 255.9 turbo back, AEM intake, AFC, groudwires, TurboXS H34 and a MBC that resulted in a problem to peak out at 17.5 - 18 psi but had a spike down low. This time I added Blitz EBC, AMS FMIC, AMS LIC pipe, Walbro 255, Denso IW24 plugs and I ran 240.4 at around 20psi tapering to 19.5 or so. Not happy with that, I don't know what was wrong but I couldn't run any more boost because it would blow the spark out of the plugs. Other than that I was tuned around 11.7 - 12.0 afr this time I we had to pull out 20% of fuel on the afc to get that at 7 grand. Before I only had to pull 9% or so on the stock pump to be at 10.5-11.1 afr at 7 grand. I don't know what to do but I think I have a timming issue who knows. Any advice?
I must say thanks to Axis working me in on the dyno!
Also STI's were baselineing at 185 hp on saturday, doesn't that seem way low, the evos baselined at 210 last time I was there and they are 30hp down from a stock STI. I don't know everything but I don't understand all of that. That would mean a evo would of baselined at 155-60 this time. That is 115 whp loss for a STI, and the same for a EVO can that be? Shiv gets in the 220's with STI on crap 91 fuel for baselines.
Just don't understand all of it, please educate me

Hmmm, got a bunch of people in the other thread I started in "engine/turbo/drivetrain" saying that Shiv's dyno reads lower than Axis so I am STILL not reading "acurately" in their view blah blah blah.... and now GTVEVO is saying it is reading lower than Shiv's does on the baselines for the STi's.
Mike, can you chime in with the "real deal" on what baseline numbers you get from the plain jane bone stock WRX, bone stock WRX STi, and bone stock EVO? That would help a lot!
Thanks,
Keith
PS: I assume all dyno plots are SAE corrected for temp/elevation?

So me and GTVEVO were the only ones to dyno our EVO's on the dyno day? Damn, I thought a bunch of people would post up or I wouldn't have bothered to start this thread!

A bunch of us dynoed at axis in October. Here's the thread with some of the dyno results we got then.

Yes I was in the pack that dynoed in october as well and this session was totally different I guess due to weather but who knows. In October stock EVO's were putting down 210 this time stock wrx STI's put down 185hp. This was why we were trying to figure out what a stock EVO would dyno at being 30hp less from the factory would result at a 155hp number or so which was alot less then in October. If that is were they are at thats cool we were just trying to get a recient baseline for compairson.
If anyone knows please post it up.
Thanks in advance.

Also, I hope the dyno was set up exactly the same on Friday as it was on Saturday.... that would make my numbers more impressive
Hey Mike, you do use SAE correction factors don't you? I was having right around 100F intake temps on the dyno (temp in upper IC pipe) because the turbo was working so hard to make boost.... if it was a lot warmer on Saturday and you don't use SAE corrections that would explain GTVEVO's drop in power and the low readings on the STi's. Let us know OK?
Thanks,
Keith
