Madison on June 27th
Anyone interested or for sure going to this event.
www.madisonautocross.com
I looked at the most recently available results and I only saw one EVO entered. Looks like the had a short course too, but they took 8 runs, that might be fun.
Post here if you are going/considering going.
I will most likely drive up that morning, but it's possible I might stay the night before.
I forgot to say in another post, but I am sure you will see this one, grats on the house Nate, hurry back out, us low wings need representing.
Nate tell the MRS. that you are going to Home Depot for curtain rods, and you will be back in 9 hours, hehe.

I'm going and I'm signed up already. I'm actually the guy thats runs the autocross program for the Madison Sports Car Club. We're a much smaller club than the Chicago or Milwaukee SCCA. We're not as serious either. The course we had at the Geneva Lakes dog track was very short, even for us. We didn't have a lot of room to work with. Should be longer next time. Great thing was everybody got 8 runs and we were all packed up and gone by 4:00pm. Moss came to the last autocross we had at Columbus 151 Speedway. You can ask his opinion of the club if you like. Hope to see some more EVOs there.
I'm really gonna try and make this one...Stockfornow is rolling his eyes 'cause he's heard that before
I have a seven's rugby tournament the day before on the lakefront in Milwaukee...but once I wake up and put myself back together I'll try to get there. I'm really looking forward to meeting all you guys. I've got to get details from Moss too about helping me with my exhaust...
I've been meaning to meet up with you guys before, Hutch...I've just never made it out. You guys meet every month very near where I live...you'd think I'd be able to get my lazy *** out there

Lithe, if you are able to make it we can stage our cars so you can ride with me a couple times, and viceversa, if you look safe
. From your name the added weight will no be a signifcant matter.

Thanks for the offer, Stockfornow...I think I'll just be there to watch (cough, *chicken*, cough) though. This will be my first autocross ever, which I guess doesn't mean I can't race, but still...
I'd love to ride with you though...but that's up to you. I'm 6'1", 190 or so...not that big, but any weight in the passenger seat is probably noticeable.
As for me, maybe they'd let me drive the course when no one's looking
Before/After all the events...I don't know. I don't know what my problem is-I'd just like to go through the cones when all eyes aren't on me I guess.

I'm planning on being there again. Lithe come on down and enter... Last week was my first one with this group (previously Milwaukee SCCA) this group is much friendlier. They have a point person for first timers, if it is your first time you get a couple of runs before the real runs start to get yourself familiar with it.
SCCA is far too serious and competative to the point of not being much fun anymore.... The whole point of this group seems to be to have fun.... and you will do that.

I am not sure if they will let an unregistered person go on a ride. You for sure will need a helmet too, but they may have loaners.
I actually prefer the way the car "feels" with a passenger in the car, it feels more settled. Maybe the baggage prevents me from overdriving the car as much too??? No doubt the added weight slows me down though, but the EVO usually has power to spare going through most obstacles. It only gets depressing when you aren't on boost for long periods.
Do I downshift or no, that's the question, isn't it????
Quit being a baby and enter, everyone has been a first timer once, hell I have only done 3 + 1 school.

Thanks for the good words Moss. Don't worry Lithe. Just sign up and show up. We have a guy that walks new people through in the morning. We even give first timers a couple practice runs before we start timed runs just to make it easier for ya. People that aren't competing can ride along with an experienced person as long as they wear a helmet and sign the waiver. We have about 6 loaner helmets. Most of the events I do, once I shift to second I leave it there the whole course. Last Geneva Lakes event there was a really tight turn at the end where you had to use first gear. Thats the first time in a long time I've had to downshift to first. -Erik
Thanks guys...you're not gonna let me weasel out of this are you
I'll check out the site more and find out costs...Vishnu parts are soon gonna be draining my credit card.
It's nice to know Madison's is a friendly club...I wasn't sure who/what type of people I'd meet there. Good news on the loaner helmets too...but they might mess up my hair-I better not risk it, I probably shouldn't go
Like I said, I think I'll enter...thanks for all the encouragement!

We don't need you thinking you will enter, we need you knowing you will enter. Like Hutch said, there are plenty of people around who are more than willing to help out newbies, plus if we know you are coming then we will be watching out for you too.
You will get a couple of practice runs at the beginning, my friend came to the last one, it was his first autocross also, when he was on his practice runs nobody was watching except me. Also, he had no interest in going until I pressured him into it, but he had a great time and is planning on coming to the next one!!
Also I won't mind riding along with you, or taking you out with me, stockfornow already offered this also, there is no way you will not have a good time
. BUT once you do one, you will be hooked.

Bumpity bumpbump.
So this is at the dog track, don't the dogs get spooked by the noise? Looks like post time is at 1:00pm on Sundays.
Any event people know if it will be a "tight" or "more open" course at this point???
You still going Bob???
Lithe ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????
Well off to clean and prep the car, gotta look good when you go out of town. I hate cleaning cars....

The Madison club uses a portion of the parking lot at the track. It will most likely be a little on the tight side. I wore my rear pads out at Blackhawk on Wednesday so I'm not driving the EVO but I'll be driving someone else's car.
A little off topic, but Hutch I think I saw you on the beltline today heading east around 4:45ish.... Unless there is another Yellow Evo in Madison! I was in a loaner Focus so totally un-noticeable.. My Evo is sick
On a plus note, we got Lithe's exhaust installed tonight! I guess Vishnu forgot to send the o2 housing (which we were both pleased about after looking at what was involved with installing that thing), he let me take it out after we were done, the car is definately faster than mine (but mine is sick and running REALLY rich). It sounds pretty sweet too....
That was more than a little OT wasn't it!!
