My trip to Dynoflash

I just had the pleasure of bringing my X to Dynoflash for a tune. It was well worth the two and a half hour drive.

I drove the car in with a WORKS drop in filter and left with a Buscher Racing exhaust and a great tune.

With the drop in filter the car pulled around the 250-260 hp and tq range. The car definitely felt a little better up top with the drop in, but still had some hesitation.

Al informed me had had a few Buscher Racing parts around and nothing to put them on... I couldn't resist. Al and his guys got the car off the dyno and on the lift slapped the exhaust on pretty quick. The exhaust looked very straight forward to put on. It uses all the stock hangers and looks near stock when looking at the car from behind.

Then it was back to the dyno... After a couple pulls, Al was able to dial in the car pretty quickly with EcuTek. After the final dyno run, Al took the car out on the street to check drivability. When he got back I took the car out for a spin and could immediately feel a difference. It felt like a different car.

Here's the dyno sheet from the final tune.

The car from behind with the Buscher exhaust.

One last shot on the X on the dyno.

The drive home when well. No issues. No CELs. After getting back, I unloaded the stock exhaust and took the car out for a spin. The exhaust is definitely throatier especially at low RPM. At highway speed (60-75) it is barely noticeable. No drone at all. The power generated by the tune is crazy. Acceleration feels far better and smoother all the way to redline. It just takes off.

I'd recommend a Dynoflash visit to anyone up here in the Northeast looking for a tune. Everyone is friendly and Al does a great job.

Nice, he did my tune as well. Did he raise the rev limiter and factory 2 step?

Nice looking graph. I wonder if one would get this much power out of the mail in flash. Was this on 91oct?

Not sure about the 2 step. I haven't tried it out since the reflash. The tune was on 93oct. I've been seeing a little better fuel economy as well. I got 25 mpg into work today over mild hills. Not too shabby.

I was just looking at other people's dyno graphs and when you look at enough of them you appreciate how smooth Al's tuning is. The lines and power band is always smooth on his tunes.

Thanks for noting that. I take great pains in dyno tuning to make a very linear and progressive feeling car that has a very smooth feel on the road. I find that today, after tuning for so many years, I have the same focus and passion to "get it right" on the dyno and use the dyno for what it is intended for (to chart the shape of the curve) rather than just reading the peak power number. The area under the curve is what makes for an enjoyable and fast car to drive on the road.

Thanks also to the OP for posting about your experience.

To those inquiring about price, feel free to send me a PM for a quotation on price for a Ecutek reflash and custom tune.

Al
