Any way to tell if running too lean?

Of course without a wideband! I mean are there any tale signs that one is running too lean to be a problem?
Thanks

Depending on where in the powerband you're running lean, you might experience snatchy throttle response, and/or you may feel like you're not pulling on top like you think you should.
Once again depending on where you're lean

tap an EGT sensor in your exhaust manifold

your engine goes boom.

You're on a very thin ice if you're tuning without a wideband man.

I am not tuning for sure
I have a stage I ACN AP map on the MR with a HKS drop in. The car feels the best with the regular stage I map and the drop in (which I tried accidentally not realizing I had flashed the wrong map), followed by the ACN map for CA and the drop in, next with the ACN map and the reg filter and lastly the regular MR without a tune. Rob at Cob is going to test the stage I with the HKS soon and releasr the data to us, but I was just wondering since in my driving I notice NO issues at all. If anything the car with the first setup pulls the hardest and sounds wonderful while making power all the way up top ( which I do rarely anyways) and feels lively in the lower RPM range. The stock MR map, on the other hand, makes a lot of noise up top and doesn't go anywhere.
That why I was asking.

The stock mapping on cars is almost always hideously fat on top. They do this thinking it'll minimize warranty claims. The feedback you'd get from the car would be no pull in that area.
