WORKS P2 flash REVIEW

Got my car flashed at Works on 4/21/09. Was originally thinking about the P1 and even the eco saver but got talking with the staff and they recommended the P2. All I had was a drop in K&N filter as far as engine mods go and have been averaging 19mpg with a healthy city/fwy mix. Well the install took about 45 minutes and as soon as I got on my way I could tell the evo was different. The rough idle from before and is now steadier. Boost comes on a lot smoother and the power band is definitely increased. I noticed that the car keeps pulling even after 5500 rpm.

I have yet to go on one full tank with the new flash but already notice an increase in fuel economy. Ill post up the mpgs the next time I fill the tank. Overall I am pleased with the flash WORKS had recommended. Although I have not dyno'd the Evo yet I can tell there has been an increase in power.

I had the P2 flash done on my MR as well. I can tell a difference but I haven't checked my mileage.

and did you get a base run before changing the map?

I'm just trying to compare numbers/mods, your x seems to be a bit stronger than mine.

I got 290hp/280tq up north at works with the stealthworks muffler and k&n filter.

recently i added an ams fmic, nisei ic/turbo inlet piping, UR downpipe and test pipe, and dyno'd about 310hp/300tq.

i wish they weren't so far away, they do an awesome job there and treat their customers really well.
It was my first time there and they let me take the shop car down to the track to play around the cones.

I would go back to them every time if it weren't a 7 hour drive.

7 hours whoa.
Nah, I know what you mean man. I make a 4.5 hour pilgrimage to LA, just to have DC Performance work on my Viper. And theres absolutely no exceptions with that..

Thanks for the review. I've heard great things about Works and will be paying them a visit in the not too distant future. Was thinking of a very similar tack to you with a drop-in, P2, Dyno and Tune and if funds allow some sort of piping - be it Cat back or IUCP - still need to research further on those though as to which give the best bang for the buck.
Keep us informed. Cheers.

I live in Canada, shipped my ECU on last Tuesday morning had it back with a P2 flash on Thursday...that's amazing service. Took about 40-45 minutes to install and add new Works drop in air filter. The car runs and idles noticably smoother, and definitley has lots more power, and it's smooth hard power all the way up 7k. Early indications are hwy mileage is improved by 10-15% (from 10.9 liters/100km to 9.7 liters / 100km - dam metric system eh!). I will need a couple of fuel ups to get a real good idea of how much the fuel economy has improved. I have to get over thrill of all the new power, my right foot has been much heavier than usual since Thursday.

How much did Worls charge for the P2 flash? Do they send it with the upgraded boost hose/pill?

Another thing I liked about Works. Is that their shop is at a race track. So whether if its a tune, or a modified part they develope. They can take their test car and run it on the track. And get real feedbacks/data on it..

They in stalled there and yes a boost hose was included. Just filled the tank up and calculated that I am now getting about 22 mpg....this is good considering its a mix of city and fwy driving plus very spirirted driving. Prior to this I have been getting about a mix of 19 mpg. Definitely an improvement.

I have a P1 wish I would have went with the P2... P1 is nice but barely noticeable in the gains or MPG. Biggest difference is that I boost longer!

got a p2 flash done as well on my mr. the car pulls harder now in the meat of the rev band. i was very happy with a p1 i got on my old viii and this is muy bueno as well. as for mpg, i seem to be getting about 1 mpg higher based on the data provided by the mid.

solid tuner/products, i am happy with their work every time.
