P103 (or was it 107) MASS VOLUME AIR somethingsomething SES light :(

search apparently isnt working..

I'm in limp mode all the time today, i've cleared my codes twice but it keeps throwing P103 something about the mass air volume sensor reading being low..

is this a MAF/MAS (what ever we call it) sensor issue or did I blow an IC pipe perhaps?

the car is basicaly stock, I didnt trouble shoot too much because I don't see how i could have blown an IC pipe..

^Is it the real limp mode where you can't accelerate and the idle jumps up and down? BTW P0103 is Mass Air Flow Circuit Input, and P0107 is Manifold Absolute pressure circuit low input. I have never pulled these codes after going into limp mode.

Idle is at or around 2k RPMS and it will not build boost, or maybe not very much boost.

definatly pulled P0103, and a P1235, cleared it and p0103 came back every time i started the car (cleared it like 6 times in the shucks parking lot, didnt have my laptop with me)

if limp mode is where you cannot accelerate at all, then I've never hit it i guess.

the cars been sitting for a few hours, gonna go see if its still acting up.

Its been rather cool up here, and the other day at the track I couldn't boost over 24 psi w/ out triggering limp mode no matter how much I adjust the air flow and torque tables. Once limp mode happens it takes a few tries to clear the codes.

P1235 means you need to adjust your airflow tables.

P0103 means your MAF is possibly fracked - I would be getting out a DMM to test the voltages etc

Does the limp mode trigger at low RPM with high load up a hill? Or is it at full boost at mid rpm and all of a sudden it kicks in? You can adjust the airflow and torque limiting tables but be sure to follow my guide posted here as adjusting values too low OR too high will trigger the limp modes. Basically the charts are a target value and there is a valid range the ECU is expecting above and below that number, go too far either way and you get a limp mode that usually cripples the car's power.

I can understand Mitsu wants to safeguard the engine but the complete loss of boost is downright dangerous if you are pulling into traffic when it triggers. If there was a way to only reduce you to 10 psi boost versus no boost in limp mode I think that would be a reasonable change.

I did get a P0103 and its consistantly on, I'm thinking the maf is f'd..

I have a cone filter on, its a little dirty but nothing too bad, is this self inflicted?

i might toss the stock air box back on and go see the dealer, stupid aero kit is falling off on the driver side anyway.

time to get out the DMM and test the voltages coming out of the MAF.

I would say either it needs to be cleaned or is actually faulty

i'm gonna guess dmm is damn multi meter?

search is still not cooperating, what voltage am i looking for?

and as far as cleaning the maf, i'll just try that eletronic stuff @ shucks.

Maf looks brand new, very shiny, no dirt or dust at all.

multimeter it - try and DMM it with it on the car (so go in the back of the connector)

look at the FSM for the right connectors, but you basically want to measure the voltage from ground and signal wires...

should be higher than say 0.5v @ idle
