Some Newbie Questions I can't find an answer to.
Hey guys, Long-time reader, first-time writer.
I just bought my first car a few weeks ago:
2010 Lancer GTS CVT with Sight & Sound + Touring packages. (copper orange)
I am absolutely in love with this car, My brother has a manual one in black and has sold me on it, so I bought my first car with the idea that I can get my hands dirty with modifying it and just having fun!
for what it's worth I'm a big computer guy, kind-of my trade talent, and I love learning about cars, engines, pretty much everything related to them (again, mostly from my older brother). Long story short, I've got a few questions for my first few performance parts, so here is goes:
1: I'm having difficulty finding a good cold-air intake for the 2.4L CVT (apparently the CVT has taken-up more real-estate under the hood). I found the RRM ram intake but there isn't much heat shielding on it :/ however i hear it's of quality, and the price-tag looks good.(http://www.roadracemotorsports.com/s...roducts_id=296)
2: the link bellow is the exhaust I was looking at and I heard somewhere on these forums that when using this cat-back that you have to cut into your down-pipe ~3" to get it to fit, I lost the quote however >.< (and i can't find a search function, total newbie sry). Would this void my warranty, and is it worth it??

3: Is it worth getting a cat-back exhaust system or axle-back? I'm looking to eventually upgrade the headers, but probably not initially. (http://www.greddy.com/products/exhausts/spectrum-elite/) This is the Axle-back exhaust i'm looking at as on youtube, the audio sounds amazing! I've also heard on these forums that there isn't much of a performance difference between a cat-back and axle-back exhaust.
there's a lot more things i wanna do to my baby, but i'm on-top of those so far. Any advice or light you guys could shed on these would be Much much appreciated! I've really been impressed with these forums, and with any luck I have a lot of projects planned for my new car
Thanks again folks!

I can only help on the 1st question. From reading these forums alot of people like the Injen CAI. I personally have the Injen SRI for the 09 GTS and i had the RRM SRI up intil like 2 weeks ago. I prefer the INJEN SRI, easy install too.

For the exhaust id recommend the Greddy because it just sounds awesome and it'll let your car breath that much easier, also I have to say go with the Injen CAI or the AEM CAI, short ram is nonsense they may say it adds 12HP and 11lbs but on a dyno it shows different CAI will get you closer to the numbers they show and the numbers you will actually get.
