Evo X power/torque limit - stock block/trans

On a stock Evo X block and GSR transmission, I've read/heard suggestions that the "safe" limit should be no more than 400whp / 360wftlb. What I'd like to know, which dyno is that based on (mustang, dynapack, dynojet) and on which pump gas (91/93)?

I couldn't find a thread that covers this via search/google. Please link me if it already exists.

Thank you

eh no..

HP number is above 500.. tq above 400 kills stock blocks , tq kills our block not the HP.

Second is that the number is an avg amongst all of the our brave testers that have pushed the block beyond its limits , this of course is a multitidue of different dyno's and even virtual dyno's.

91/93 octane well again it depends on the tuner , conditions , etc. But most would agree the numbers on 91 are limited to how much boost you can run , as they can get knock at earlier power levels due to the **** poor gas.

Again, the numbers are just well, numbers, I honestly would not be looking at what peak hp/tq I can make , but what power level my tuner recommends based on the dyno he/she will be using.

Just food for thought.

Well, like ^^ said, you can get up to high HP as long as you keep the torque fairly low. A lot of guys are running like 460/360 and have no issues. Once you start getting in the 370-380 wtq range, it's getting a little risky- it may still be perfectly safe.. but you are def running a lot higher risk. People have done it though, although some blow at 320 too..

It really just has to do with how good of a tuner you have.

I think you have to do more research on this as there are a ton of threads that discuss HP and TQ limits. uga has it right though, it is highly dependent on the tuner, how the car is driven etc. I have heard of cars popping with low numbers like 360-375 tq and then others doing considerably better, all on stock internals.

You ask about the transmission too. The tranny is pretty stout and can hold quite a bit of power though seems to struggle with anything over 8500-9000 rpm.

These cars are very stout if you treat them right.

If you look under builds you can see his entire build with exact parts (and parts he's tested and moved on without).

EF2.5 has been on for roughly 2k miles so far, but more than half the miles on the car have been with an aftermarket turbo making 400+ WHP.

Ha ha, that's funny.

Good info guys!

Who has a good rep as far as mail order tunes these days? I'm just looking for something simple to start, intake and tune.

Bakaunchi and Razorlab are just about the only E-tuners that I would trust with my personal car. They aren't mail-order though, you'll email them logs and they'll email you back tunes. The days of actually mailing your ECU somewhere to get bench-flashed are loooooooong gone.
