Question P1808

Well I got the SST fluid and filter changed for the 2nd time last week (30,000mi on car) Now I start having problems! This afternoon I get the "Service Engine Soon" and "Transmission Requires Service" lights in the HUD followed sortly by "Transmission is Overheated, Slow down" followed by limp mode and then I'm stranded! Stuck untill the SST cools down (about 15 min) and it will again engage the clutch. I pulled a "P1808" code from the ECU (TC-SST-ECU temperature, fluid temperature sensor system (Correlation error)); WTF, maybe (hopefully) a bad MAF sensor? I going to take it into HB speed in the AM and let them look at it, if I take it easy maybe I can drive there but if it acts up I will have to call for a flatbed.

I've used both SSP and WillAll fluid. They are the same thing...

The word from WillAll:

"Paul
Thanks for the mail. There have been many SST transmissions around the world with this Temp Sensor fault regardless of the fluid being used in them
Its an issue with the sensor in the TCU being faulty. We are currently looking into a fix for it.

Regards,

Martin Donnon"

While I don't discount what he's saying, I haven't seen too many complaints about this sensor yet. Totally possible though. Hope you get it figured out soon.

I'll admit there's a couple times I've launched my car in cool weather, and it has told me to slow down. And that's on the first launch. Wouldn't surprise me if the sensor is faulty.

Where you using LC?
If you hold the revs high in LC for more than a few seconds it will tell you to slow down and put you in limp for a short time. It maybe this.

I doubt your sensor is faulty webman, you'd be experiencing some pretty abnormal behavior here and there. Launching the car (even in launch mode), gets the tranny very hot, so that is normal. (not airflow to cool the cooler).

HB is moving across the street and going through some changes and cannot check out the car until October (grrr), Under Kris at SSP's recommendation I am trailoring the car to Lars @ Works Motorspeed just now, will drop it off later today. The "Check Engine" light just came on in the U-Haul truck I rented, good grief!
