Thumbs up Evo X MR SST Launch Control Video!

Hey everyone,

Found this quick 12 sec video on Youtube of someone in Japan using the SST's launch control feature! I have to admit, I sat there for few minutes with my iPhone (using the stop watch feature) and it looks like he gets to 100km/h (62mph) in around 5.2~3 secs! Not bad at all, especially when you can knock off a tenth (or 2) off that time when measuring to 60mph Also, the gear changes really do seem lightning quick and he gets to 90+mph in no time! I made a comment in Japanese on there, so maybe I can get some more info/feedback from him...will let you know if I do! Enjoy.

P.S. If you add "&fmt=18" to the end of ANY Youtube video's URL, it gives you a slightly higher-res version of the movie

Put it at the end of the url (in the address bar where the name of the website/page you are viewing is located) and its a higher resolution but may take longer to load...

Cool, glad you guys liked it! One other thing I noticed, is that the driver lets the computer do all of the shifting and that the shift from 1st to 2nd shifts at 6,000rpm-ish...which makes me wonder IF the driver was doing the shifting if they could let it get closer to redline or even a little past the 7k mark!? I also wonder if this is the ECU or TCU doing this as a "safety measure" for the launch control...hmm. Hopefully when CharlesJ releases that article about the MR, we'll learn more about this launch control feature (hint, hint).

6kish is the end of the power band for the Evo X. Boost drops significantly near redline. So I think that is the optimal shift point...

Fair enough! I think that's a good point Can't wait to try it both ways and see which gives the better result!

Can you ask if anybody has done any intake/exhaust mods on the MR? Mitsu told the people who did the recent review for this forum that the car can't be modded. They say even an intake mod could cause the SST's ECU to throw the car into limp mode. Be interesting to see if anyone in Japan has actually had that happen.

anything can be modded. don't believe mitsu if their saying things like that. the trans may not hold up like gsr due to it being an automatic, but simple bolt ons wont be a problem.

Yeah, seems ridiculous to me, but maybe there'll be more in the review when it gets posted.
