TC-SST only handles 331 lb-ft

According to the article linked below, the TC-SST can only handle 331 lb-ft of torque. I'm sure that is a number they got from the factory so it can probably handle more, but it's interesting to have a number anyway.

Evo X FQ400

Sorry if this has been posted before, this is the 1st max torque number I've seen for the tranny.

Just because they are running more, doesn't mean it will hold up for long.


Also, is that crank or at the wheels?

That rating is for the gearbox, which would be crank. And that value stated in the article linked above disagrees with the spec on Getrag's website (but not by very much).

We have got over 270wtq and SST torque protection has kicked in.

No, it will allow the SST trans to stall at a certain rpm until it reconvenes.

Does it let the engine RPM's go high when it stalls?

The torque number dynos spit out is an estimated crank torque number, not wheel.
