launch control ......misshap or blown tranny >>

hey guys last night at the 1/4 strip i tryed launching my mr ( like normal i waited 2 full hours after i got there for the tranny and everything to cool down)(for the launch i do the nomal ssp,asc fully* off,5000rpms , brake ralease)
when i dropped the brake pedal nothing happend and then all the sudden my RPM went up to 7200rpm!?! and my feet were both off the pedal for like 2 or 3 seconds and i tryed just tapping the gas to make it stop with no luck so i put the car in Nutral and stoped the engine ... and restarted it it seemed fine ,, i was nice with her ever since.........

Nah .. its not overheating .. the launch control failed .. so it registered a slowdown ..

I still haven't figured out why the launch control is a ON/OFF issue with the MR .. but when the launch control fails .. your rpm shoots up to redline (ie clutch is released) and you get a slowdown icon ..

maybe its time I start looking at launch control codes on the MR now

Yea is working as intended as gunzo stated. This exact thing happend to me once. I think the reason why it did this was because you may have not been on the brake hard enough. I mean you really have to smash the **** out of it for it to work. I always do when im at the track, and no failures to report after 12 launches.

I'm putting out 347 to the wheels as well.

OK .. just some updates

You need to be less than 10km/h for more than 2.1s before you'll get into launch control mode ..

there's 2 conditions that is tested before you can activate stat rev limit .. I'll find out what they are and let you guys know on monday

347 whp? On the MR? And the clutch is not slipping?
What have you done to the tranny to hold that horse and the extra torque?

Yea, i have not been on the track yet(autocross or hpde), But at least the drag strip so far. The key is cooling, i have the SSP race trans cooler, and the deep sump pan and it has done a great job cooling on the launches.

Its working great for now. I have Kelford stage 2 cams, and a FPred getting installed in the next few weeks.

Nice. I don't drag race, but I autox alot and sometimes do lapping days. It's fine in autox, cause it's only like a 60 sec. courses, I launch it whenever there is a chance that I can and had no problem with it. But I only have drop in air filter and a catback exhaust. That's all I can do in AS on street tires.

But in lapping days, I did ran into couple times where the car tells me to slow. Which I didn't listen, half way up the course then the car decides to slow down for me . But after I pit and let it rest up for a little while, it was back normal again.
