Is there anymore info on this SST flash?

Interesting, in that case it might make sense to go in via the MMCS ROM instead of ODBII. I know there are people that have been dissecting that as well... it appears to just be a WinCE build.

Holy blast from the past post revival!

Funny how 4 years ago they were still confident that a TCU reflash was available "any day now"... still waiting!

Love the quotes from this guy:

"The catch is for the big hairy chested rock apes that will try this and get on the accelerator pedal to much, they will get the cool down message and rightly so too, that’s your punishment for being a heavy handed philistine."

Seems the 2011 MR's can manage a bit more torque on stuck clutchpacks, I'm at 377 whp and 367 wtq so with careful SST table tuning you can manipulate it enough to get good results.

We still need a way to modify the limits imposed by the TCU more directly but it seems to be a lost cause.

Define TCU flash. There are plenty of us that have started playing with the torque limits, torque reduction, and line pressure tables. One or 2 that have even figured out the RPM vs TPS for shift points.

TCU flash would be manipulation of the code for the transmission control unit. The SST has been in production for a while now, I'm still very surprised this has not been done.

I am curious about the ETACS mention in this thread and how it pertains to transmission control. I believe the ETACS bus controls the mode functions of the SST. Being able to go to super sport at any speed would be *****.

At this point, I don't think it will ever get done.

Now, you got me sitting up... that's would really help to make the auto mode shift better. Currently it's either too early or too late for my liking and driving style.

Would it be made available anytime soon?

ETACS has nothing to do with the TC-SST in regards to shift points, or anything to do with the gearbox operation itself, that's all TCU. But, ETACS is a gateway, pretty much to everything, the ASC computer (hydraulic unit), the AWC computer (sometimes referred to as the ACD computer) and a bunch of other modules dependent on domestic market.

For those that can reprogram the TCU now, like flashing the ROM of an Evo X to a Ralliart Lancer, this has nothing to do with ETACS yet shift points are changed, modes are added etc. Same goes with flashing the new SW versions onto older cars or vice versa.

I wouldn't be suprized if COBB can talk directly to the TCU now, it's been a while after all. I am suprized that more people aren't flashing AWC modules though, plenty of untapped potential right there.

Generally I think there is more interest in direct TCU communication than changing ASC/AYC code. I'm not sure if Cobb can talk with the TCU, but they did state that because the TCU is located inside the trans, they don't plan on pursuing any type of reflash.

COBB does not have direct control over the TCU:

Sadly, those are ECU tables not TCU tables. With TCU manipulation we could increase overall clutch pressure and not just ramp up pressure, also we would have control over launch control functions. These are just a few I'm sure.

The only TCU flashing that is taking place is with the MUT3, and that's just a total re-write, not tuning per say.

At least TCU software can be updated.
