MR launch control

hi there! im looking to buy a MR to me... looking to the MR because i want a DD car with a good power level... not a manual because is not so usable...

the question is....

IS THE MR LAUNCH CONTROL GOOD AS A GOOD MANUAL LAUNCH??

or no the mr launch is a very very bad one?? my idea is do a ECU TUNE FULL EXHAUST CAI around 330-340whp

what kind of 60feet times STOCK? and after my mods??

thank you very much! this THREAD will be very important to my future transmission CHOICE.

thanks for any feedback!

thank you very much!

but why do you think there is this big difference like 2.1 to 1.8???
2.1 60ft is bad... 1.8 is incredible!!!

with ECU TUNE i can tune a MORE AGRESSIVE LAUNCH or no, the launch is this and no improvements!?

thank you very much!!!!

not with all the reading i do,,
maybe gunzo or the other shop have come out with somethign ,,,,,

You most likely won't hit 330-340 whp with just an exhaust, tune and intake. Just fyi.

why not?? i have seen lots of X with ecu exhaust and intake with a good gas and agressive tune putting this...

well it doenst matter... IF the MR can do a 1,8 sec 60ft launch(no matter if ONLY A COLD ONE) with 300whp-330whp this is exactly what im looking to me...

what do you guys think is posible?

thank you very much

I'd like to see a dyno chart with just intake exhaust and tune hit 330whp and have it last a year. You'd have to push some ungodly amount of boost and timing to hit those numbers.

Not to mention there is more drive train power loss on a MR than a GSR. With an intake, HFC, full ETS intercooler piping, and 4" ETS FMIC @ 27.5psi we were able to get 310whp on a dynojet out of mine on a very aggressive tune. If you want to hit those numbers plan on some cams, intercooler piping, a hardcore tune, turboback exhaust, injectors and fuel pump to get up there.

How often are you planning on launching the car? It does hammer on the clutches pretty hard.

really MORE LOSS??

i tought was the same of a manual...

well my idea is a DD launch eventually. 1 launch per month! i know what im talking i sold my WRX with 350whp and its totally fragile GEARBOX and almost never i use to launch in 3 years maybe 20 LAUNCH.

what do you think the SST can handle with safety this 300-320 whp?

Yah it's about a 10whp difference in drive train loss from GSR -> MR.

There have been a few MRs to the track, but I don't think anyone has pushed their MR with launches till it breaks because of how expensive it is to change the clutches. I think you should talk to Jeremy at SSP or Bryan from GST Motorsports, they may know the true limits.

On the CT9A chassis, the ring gear and pinion were fragile and could break easily, which cost a lot to replace. They have found ways to reinforce those so they don't break much. I know the Evo X GSR has center differential pin issue where they sheer off. All in all, repeated launching isn't good for any AWD car. But you can always go by the old rule, drive it till you break it

remember snow mode :P
ummm yes there is a 10 whp loss becasue the clutchs are in oil,
with out a tune i was in the 13.2 range at 105,
and after a tune 300 whp on a dynamics i was at 12.3 at 108

23 celcius, and i launched 17 times that day, hot? pft who cares, i was consistent

when you guys show upto the 1/4 are you signing in, shutting car down and watching for an hour?

Because me personally, i drive hour and a half to get there, sign in, and roll onto the track and turn these times right off the street.

snow mode : have no tried, only been launching in tarmac, does it make a diff? i get no wheel spin in tarmac.

another thing this bone stock MR its to SHORT the gear ratio... maybe TUNE to a higher RPM per gear will be good? can the stockturbo hold boost? it worth?

i saw a MR launching in youtube i dont know why(maybe some problem) it was modded but it was the worst launch i ever seen!! lol
