TC-SST Leaking?

I found a puddle of fluid in the plastic skid plate when I was changing my oil and I thought it was oil at first because I was over a quart low (who the hell knows why I was over a quart low in a matter of 3000 miles) and there was a LOT under there but it didn't smell like oil so I ruled that out quickly.

So I dropped the car off Friday and got a call Saturday morning saying that it wasn't oil it was transmission fluid and it was leaking a lot form the side and that they called their Mitsu hotline and weren't allowed to touch the car until they heard back from them on Monday.

I really hope they don't end up keeping my car for the rest of the year. haha

Just though I'd give everyone a heads up and check for a fluid leak dripping from their tranny.

Yeah, we found the same thing when we installed my SSP cooler + pan. We were originally thinking that the gasket on the transmission cover had started seeping, but after draining the transmission and pulling the pan, there was a very small section of the cover with a deflection in it - exactly where the leak was. While this was not the first time my mechanic had seen the leak, it was the first time he'd had the opportunity to pull the cover to get a better look.

Do keep us informed of what happens with this.

Damn, that sucks! It sucks even worse that there are SST problems starting to occur on the 2010 RA's now!

Let us know what you find out from your dealership.

It's becoming more prevalent lately! I hope there will be a recall for it!

Yup mine is leaking from the side as well, looks like from the trans oil filter housing.

I got a phone call back from the dealer saying that it is normal to burn over a quart of oil in 3000 miles? Really?
They also said that they have the transmission opened up and sitting on a table waiting for a call back from corporate and my car is sitting in their overnight parking. Greeeeeat let it sit in the 110 degrees its going to be today.
They said that they would call me again as soon as they hear from corporate.

I just got another call saying all they needed was to replace all of the lines and clamps.
Hm. Why did they have it taken apart then?

I went down to the dealership today and they took me back to my car and put it on the lift and showed me that it is leaking from the transmission filter housing right at the end of the line. They said that the mold was wrong and it wasn't a perfect seal.

Glad that was an easy fix .

And yah, it is known that we can burn up to a quart of oil in 3k depending how hard you are on it. That is why recommends checking the fluid at every fill up.

I'm so glad it was an easy fix and not some month long project.

Why do our engines eat up so much oil?

Noticed an oil drip in the garage from my 2010 ralliart. Took it in today and they said it was a cracked trans filter housing. New one on order covered by warranty. Will post up when problem fixed.
