Cold Shifting
Cold Shifting
When I drive my car I always put in in manual shifting mode. I have noticed now that the weather has turned cold, the transmission has changed it shifting behavior. When I first start driving, the car will ignore paddle commands. I can ask for 6 upshifts and I'll get none. Once I go like 1 mile the car act normally. Also I've noticed that the transmission will downshift without a command when slowing down. Has anyone else noticed these peculiarities?
It's suppose to down shift on its own to prevent the car from turning off as for the upshifts when the car is cold you need to shift at higher rpms to help warm it up. Even if you put it in normal drive the car will shift higher when cold then when warm. Most cars out there will do this to warm themselves up
From the manual (paraphrased): The SST will stay in gears longer at higher RPMs than normal to help warm the car up when the car is still cold. It will also downshift to keep higher RPMs to help warm up.
Let the car warm up next time and then see if you are having the same issues.

In auto+cold stard the SST will engage the 2nd around 3000 rpm and also for 3rd, I believe to heat the catalyzer quickly.
In manual I can engage the 2nd after 2000 rpm, for the 3rd nothing happen before 2500.
