5000 mile transmission fluid changes seem a little excessive. Am I wrong?

I just picked a number. In most cases, probably. I think it depends on the type of driving. 15k is probably good for average driving. If doing alot of tracking, I would think it should be less than that.

Kind of what I thought. I'm at 17k right now and getting ready to my first filter and fluid change. I'm interested in this filter, but if it filters less I wonder how it works at the 15-20k mile range.

I am too. I just changed at 17k for my first change, and I put in this filter. I only put on about 5k a year, so I am considering changing ever year. It will only cost about $140(using FFL2) for each change, using the reusable filter from here out. Still not cheap, but way better than stealership or using paper filter everytime.

That's been my plan just haven't gotten around to it having a three month old and all. I just need to grow a pair and order this filter and fluid and get it done.

While I'm at it I should install my spec r's that have been sitting in my room since January.

Haha, I have a 2 month old. I forced myself to right before she came or I knew I would be in your situation

Why does everyone use Dodson?

SSP just released the same OEM SST filter replacement for like $65 shipped.

Look:
http://www.sspperformance.com/produc...nt-sst-filter/

You can either get their SSP Gold or FFL2 for way less than Mitsu Diaqueen overcharged bs. It's $850 for filter+Diaqueen in Canada. I regularly use SSP Gold or FFL2 (I've done 3 fluid/filter changes now). Luckily, SSP just released that new filter replacement which makes my cost per change even less now.

So basically, you use the same fluid.

I'm guessing everyone uses the Dodson filter because it's reusable.

You're basically paying for one Dodson filter after 3 SSP filters.

Awesome news on the new SSP replacement cartridge filter with OEM filtering capabilities! That's what I'd personally run if I had the SST transmission.

SSP has the reusable also...

The nice thing about the reusable is the dealer will never know. SSP is less expensive, same thing, and USA made product.

To each their own.

How will the dealer never know, if you don't mind me asking?

What if my tranny started having issues and I went to them with the reusable filter, would they throw a fit if they inspected the transmission and found it?

If they inspect your transmission you can bet they'll be pulling the filter, and if they find a non-paper aftermarket filter in there you can kiss your warranty coverage goodbye (nor can you blame them, even Dodson admits it doesn't filter as well as stock).

I have had this filter for two months. Too soon to say how well it does.
