Anyone with SSP 600 on 2008 model?

As the 2008 model does not comes with the TCU relearn function, am interested to know if anyone has the 10 piece SSP 600 clutchpack installed and running well without any DTC code?

Do not have the clutch packs but if you read this link
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mi...unch-done.html
then you should be able to upgrade(patch) to the latest TCU firmware and use the relearn function

Yeah, I've seen that thread, thanks. But it's still not confirmed that TCU firmware upgrade is available and possible for 2008 SST owners like myself.

It is possible and I know quite a few people with the 600 in their 2008.

Since it does not have learning capabilities, you have to make sure the clutch stack height is shimmed to be EXACTLY the same as OEM to not get any codes.

You had to keep the new SSP rings, your OEM and possibly another size. You'd have to mix and match to make sure everything was the same height.

It's a tougher install but definitely do-able and I know quite a few 2008s that have the 600.

I don't suppose wear and tear over time requires the need for TCU relearning since '08 models didn't have this feature from factory?

In what sense? I'm pretty sure there is a tolerance to allow for wear and tear. The SSP clutches are thicker and exceed
whatever tolerance there may or may not be.

The SSP guys are around on this board. PM them. Kris or Jeremy. Tell them Jason sent you

Jeremy, it's about proper installation correct?

OP, get an authorized SSP installer to do the work. Their dealers can be found on their website.

Yes, and I cannot express this enough. Installing DCT clutches is NOT like a manual transmission. There are specific measurements regarding the clutch stack height that MUST be spot on or your transmission will NOT shift correctly. It's NOT as simple as dropping the trans and throwing in new clutch packs. Everything needs to be measured and pressure tested to ensure everything is within factory specs.

For example: If you take a felt tip pen and draw a line on a piece of paper....the width of that pen line is all it takes for your clutches to work.....or not work. This is why I HIGHLY suggest taking your car/trans to a SSP certified installation shop when doing ANY modifications to the SST.

To the OP: We have lots of SSP Dealers listed on our page, but NOT all dealers are certified installation shops. I'm working on a new dealer page to list all the cert install shops, but for now here are a few of the cert shops in the US. Please shoot me a PM if none of these shops are in your area.

I had Cobb install my 600 kit. New DCT seals, shaft seals and steels and discs. I was the first to have it done. They even made a video about it.

Calvin did it. They even have their own MUT. He did a fantastic job, car runs like a beast, no shifting issues, no problems. Have almost 25K miles on the kit so far.
