Yet another SST question.

I know, there is a ton of these SST problems and question threads. I owned a 2006 IX and sold it about a year ago. Now I'm looking at buying a 2008 X MR. Went to the dealership and test drove it today. Car was super smooth with shifts and rode great. The only problem it has is, it will not switch from normal to sport mode or s-sport mode. Could this be a tuning issue, or could a relay not be sending the proper signal from the switch to the transmission control unit? I can put it in manual mode by moving the shifter to the left and use the padels to shift, it just won't go from normal/sport/s-sport like it should with the switch. I hope this isn't confusing. I also hope this hasn't been covered before. I swear I've looked at almost all the SST trouble threads. Thanks in advance for any info anyone has. Here is a link to the car I've been looking at.

Here is the VIN as well. Just in case someone knows the previous owner. Maybe I can get some more info on the car other than the Carfax. The vehicle is originally from Maryland. JA3AW56VX8U050880.

Its possible that a drink was spilled right on the switch and shorted it out. I would make them send it to a local Mitsu dealership as its under warranty. Hopefully its an easy fix.
