SST Temp Gauge

I am looking to install SST temperature gauge. I checked all the threads and can not find any pictures where people installed their sensor. If you have one installed can you post some pictures. Thank you.

Nobody has the temp gauge installed? Really?

The only appropriate place for it is in the oil pan. You'll need the Dodson heat sump to install it as the OEM pan is plastic.

I had a gauge on the fluid line (autometer trans gauge), but internally the SST doesn't really start sending fluid until 150F I believe. So now I have an accessport display the INTERNAL SST temperature which is most accurate since the fluid temp is measured INSIDE the trans. I do have an adapter to replace one of the drain plugs with an 1/8NPT gauge, but I have been happy with the accessport digital display since it gives PEAK/MIN which is nice and have not bothered to installed it.

The CAN SST temp is inferred. Just FYI.

So what's the details on that exactly?
Because in the summer the physical mounted gauge aligned nearly 100% with the internal SST CAN reading. I thought to myself - "why the heck do I have this gauge if the ECU is already getting what I need?"
In the winter the fluid line mounted gauge read LOWER which made sense to me because it is more exposed to the elements and fluid doesn't really start to flow that way until 150F I believe.

Just out of curiosity, which gauge are you using to monitor your sst temps? How much is it off by and how low is it reading? I noticed this as well with my setup.

I was using an autometer gauge (trans), and it was reading up to 10deg F low when the temp was below 40F out. This is because I was reading the temp of the fluid in a cooling line, so it is more exposed to the elements.

When I had a X MR, I installed the dodson sump, which has an 1/8 NPT port for a gauge, and that car had a Zeitronix multi gauge in it to display boost, AFR, and trans temp.

I was thinking about installing that brass (or whatever) fitting into the drain port and adding a sensor there. Don't have the funds for a heated sump yet..

Since your in Tampa it is less of an issue. Up here in the North, a cold SST is like carrying around 500 lbs in your trunk!
