temp guage?

it was nearly 10 degrees last night and for some odd reason my temp gauge on my odometer would not reach to its fullest..lemme remind you that i warmed up the car for fifteen minutes and i drove home for a half hour..the car warmed up fine as well..and also my evos gauge would sometimes slightly drop then go back up..anyone have this experience before and should it be something to worry about?

Obviously, he is refering to the stock coolant temp. gauge. All I can say is, mine is never at the middle when it is that cold. And Texas hasn't even gotten to 10 degrees...

Ok? No need to get smart about it, I was trying to make sure he was talking about the one in the gauge cluster and not an aftermarket gauge on the steering column or something relative to that.

When it is that cold out here in MD my temp gauge definitely takes a lot longer to come up the the operating temp range. If you have drops in your temperature randomly on the gauge the sending unit could be going bad, or you could have a thermostat sticking issue possibly, but usually that would get stuck open and never heat anything up.

Drove to work today without the temp gauge reaching anywhere near the 1/4 mark. Wind chill of 7 degrees and the drive to work is about 30 minutes of highway driving...sometimes spirited driving depending on how I feel
