Is the sst trans that bad?

Hey guys i might possibly go thru with a deal for a 2014 mr and i wanted to see what your guys opinions are about the sst. I recently owned a 2010 gsr about 9 years ago and want to get back into the evo game. Ive been outta the mitsu game for awhile so i have alot to catch up on.its a 2014 mr with 49,xxx on the odo. Is there anything to look for? Did they do any update since the first evo x? Are the sst problems just a hand full or are they just as bad as nissan cvt?(worked at nissan and those things get replaced by the dozens). Only reason why im going with the sst is so 1. My wife can drive it and 2. Have two manual cars suck. I need a break. So any tips or tricks would be nice to know. Ive heard when at red lights or stops to put in neutral to help clutch pack wear and to have in sport mode when driving.

They're not as bad as the nissan CVT. Especially if you get it rebuilt by Kozmic when it starts having issues, they fix the typical failure points so you want have future issues. The inly issue is the expense. The rebuild is about $6k, and then you have shipping and labor for install, etc.

Yeah. I know back when i had a gsr ive heard the 1st gen X SSTs were already having problems. So im a lil worried about getting a newer MR. but i know a rebuild is in the furture if i decide to keep the car for a long period. Ive missed my evo.. im just hoping the low mileage helps somehow. Or the other owners took care of the vehicle.
but what are the chances id have a bad trans? I mean.. is it 100% gonna need a rebuild at one point? are there a lucky few that manage to keep there trans how it was from the factory? Im planning to stay stock and just do a trans cooler upgrade and possible a reflash but i need the car pretty reliable being ita gonna be my home to work car.

I think driving in manual s-sport, no WOT until 50*c at least, no launching, proper maintenance w/oem fluid, will help. That's how I treat mine. Currently at 53k miles, only owned it for the last 3k miles tho, since march.

Well that does sound promising. If i go thru with the deal gonna hit up a dealer to have it inspected. Ive also heard about a transmission relearn?

Dunno if you've bought the car, but at nearly 50k miles, the SST should have been serviced at least once. If the previous owner doesn't have paperwork for that, I'd walk away.
