harnesses

disclaimer: did searches and couldn't find the answer i was looking for. that being said....

I'm looking to get a pair of 4 point harnesses for auto-x. I've seen sparco ($100), schroth ($150), and takama($??) harnesses. what's the differences between these? i'm looking to get something like the clubman by sparco, either bolt in or snap in either way. are the harnesses that different or am i just paying more for a brand like schroth or what not? thanks guys!

The big difference that I've noticed is that the Stroth has patented anti-submarine technology and is DOT approved.

What that seams to mean is that the Stroth harneses have an extra bit of fabric that deploys in the event of a bump, and allows your upper body to both move forward to rotate in towards the center of the car - at least until the air bag catches you.

I guess the damage to your inards can be quite terrible if you are using the wrong three or four point in an accident. It is foolish to use anything less than the anti-submarine. Next step is not a big deal- to a five or six point.

But then on an auto cross you don't have to worry to much about a big incident, so if you don't use it on the hiway, any of them should be fine.
