Harness bar advice

Ok I'm planning of running harnesses for autocrossing in the summer. Rather than do the usual thing of attaching them to the rear seat I was thinking of using a GSC harness bar. Would this be possible with the stock ralliart seats? I was thinking Schroth harnesses since they seem the best mix of safety, and price (can't really afford 300$ a pop of Takatas).

I don't know if a Schroth street belt will work with a harness bar, but there are tons of belts out there that will (for around the same price or less even). Just get a harness bar that fits in an Evo (I believe Sparco tested theirs in a Lancer and said it fits), and get a harness that's meant for roll bar mounting.

I don't think the seats will be a problem. I can't remember the ralliart seats, but are they the type with the hole in the middle for a shoulder harness? If so you won't have any problems. If not, there is probably a way to work it into the headrest.

Yeah they have a hole in middle and a hole in the headrest (not sure which one you're referring to but I assume you mean the hole between the seat and the headrest).

I was just thinking a harness bar would be a little safer, any thoughts, cause hell if I don't need to spend 300$ I sure as hell won't.

If you're just going to wear the harness during autocrossing, and the regular seatbalt for daily driving (recommended anyway) don't bother with the harness bar. The only advantage I can see with a harness bar is I think you can still use the rear seats while the driver is in the harness. Other than that, not really needed.

^ That's what I was thinking. As for the safety thing, I'm not sure, but I'm sure the Schroth belts are road legal for a reason....

::EDIT::
My english just went to *poop*

i'm not sure, but i'm sure...

For the driver's side, I'm using the Schroth Rally-X 4 point harness (discontinued now). They are much better than I expected, and glue you to your seat very well. The car will feel totally different after you're strapped in. It straps you in so tight that if the door is open when you tighten everything, you won't be able to reach it I think it's helped my success in autocrossing.
