Here is why I would like to run #25 CCW -
#25 runs the full back straight (a/k/a the Dog Leg) instead of the Bus Stop, and Star Mazda turn rather than the Sweeper. I prefer to run #25 because the Bus Stop just breaks up the fastest part of the track and messes up the entrance/exit from the Riverside fast sweeper (a/k/a Talledega), Star Mazda is more fun and challenging than the Sweeper, and it lengthens the straight between Magic Mtn (a/k/a Lost Hill).
The reason I prefer CCW is that it is simply faster, safer and more fun than CW. Let's start with the Buttonhook (a/k/a Onramp) at the bottom of the East Loop. CW it is just a low speed mess. CCW it is much faster coming off the little straight after the exit of Cotton Corners, and it is just a quick sweeper until you are most of the way into the turn, when you have to brake and take the hard left out.
CCW the entrance to the Esses is faster and it's just more fun through there. Then you get to Star Mazda which is a difficult turn CW. When you go CCW, the exit of Star Mazda is a natural hard left to a left side apex and then there's this great slide out to the right side burm before you go up the straight toward Magic Mtn. (a/k/a Lost Hill).
Then entrance to Magic Mtn. CCW is great, high speed with a right side dog leg and then brake at the top of the hill hugging the left side burm, then a natural slide to the right as you exit. People love Magin Mtn. CW because it is a blind turn, but in fact it is blind CCW too.
Finally, taking the Riverside sweeper onto the back straight is a great high speed part of the track which ends at the little hill before the entrance to Cotton Corners. Going CCW you have to brake twice for that rise, once before it, then release the brake, go over the little hill, and brake again for the left hander.
Also, I think #25 is safer CCW because you aren't carrying all that speed from the back straight into Riverside, and the place where some cars have gone off and rolled CW (entrance or top of Magic Mtn.) is bascially eliminated.
If you can't tell already, I have run Buttonwillow numerous times in almost every configuration, including the one that bypasses Magic Mtn. (a/k/a Lost Hill) and instead runs the Dragstrip, which is the longest road course straightaway I have ever seen. Talk about a hard braking zone at the end of that one!!!
