I did it the other way around if that helps. I went to The Ring for the first time just before the game came out. When it came out and even now, I'm very impressed with the game and think is does help a lot. You need real track experience before you go though, it's not a forgiving place to discover physics(!). The thing that's intimidating about the place that you can't really appreciate (in the game) is the combination of shear speed (super high speed corners everywhere) and the absolute lack of run off. You need a comfort level with high speed corners and your own car control skills. It's like 12+ miles of the esses at Watkins Glen!

The things the game does poorly is that the bumps aren't quite in the right places and the hills are way way bigger in real life. The cars in the game are actually a bit more nervous than real life (so that’s good news at least). You can learn the layout on GT4 and that is an absolute advantage and shortcut IMHO

Amazing place, you must go!

The game helps for the first couple of turns, but once you get in a groove its all about the drive. You kinda tone everything out and almost become one with the car. When ever I have people ride with me I forget that they are scared and just drive.

chronohunter is right. There is very little room for error, and most of the corners are high speed. Just like I said before the first time I went it was for the experence, and this time it was for the drive. I drove the car harder than I ever have this time. And it was only cause of my limits not the cars. Most of the people that crash, crash because the drive beyond there limit. Relax and just drive, but im sure most of you know this already.

But I will say this...I will be here for atleast 3 more years. So if anyone decides to make a trip PM me and we can definitely hook up. I think someone here went once and didnt tell me and I wouldve went.

Yet it still has the regular VIII wheels, not the TDR wheels it's supposed to have... Lets see the engine before we jump to that conclusion.

You think so? I figured it was a fake...considering the regular Evo 8 wheels and cheesy add-ons (mudflaps, vinyl graphics, etc.). But maybe you're right and it's a real FQ-400. In that case, cool.

Still, I'd personally take an Evo VI--TME over any other Evo (even the FQ-400). But that's just me. The two TME's I drove back in the early 2000's is what turned me onto the whole Evo scene.

It's an SLK230 judging by the fact he said it was blown. It isnt an AMG.

You can do it through BMW, it costs 2K Euros for the school plus you have to get yourself to the track (it includes hotel and meals once you are there).

I'd be all over it.

I vote for a prepped M3!

I accidentally skipped a couple of post.

The VI is mine, its a regular JDM GSR with all the fixens, the CRX is powered by a B16 stock, and its damn quick, the SLK 200 is supercharged and rented from Sixty for 360 US dollars for 5 days with insurance, and last but not least the Blue Evo is an 03 US spec Evo.
