Question Hydraulic Hand Break..Any Body Using?

hi autoxers,

i alaways had the problem of the wide turning radius of the evo when making herpins or small round abouts (360).

i personally find it difficult to use the stock hand break.so i ordered a Hydraulic Hand Break and installed it on the evo....

after tring the hand break for the first time today i managed to spin the car nicely and quickly but there is a problem i cant use the break and the hand break at the same time!! when i press the break paddle the HHB became very hard (by the oil pressure).

there is something wrong with the way my mechanic install the unit or the way he interupted the break oil lines??

Any body is using or can share info. on how to install correctly. please help

If the hydraulic hand break is tapped into the brake lines AFTER the master cylinder, then the line pressure would be real great on the hand brake.

I would suggest contacting some rally shops as these are most likely to have experience with hydraulic handbrake setups. Good luck!

Just tighten your factory hand break. If you install a hydro hand break you need to find some sort of way to make it disconect the drive to the rear wheels like th efacdtory unit

otherwise you are going to be buying a new center diff and possibly a new trans very soon

or you could try road racing

i will shift the switch of parking light (originally on the hand break leaver) to the new hydraulic assembly.

the ACD system take signal for the Parking brake switch.

so either u are using original hand break or hydraulic it is the same effect on the center diff

Are you using an AP or Girling type master cylinder for the handbrake? It sounds normal.
