....for the class we are discussing in this thread.
I have the rulebook in front of me.

-glad you think it's humor. The highest level teams use "motorsport" shells which come with cages in them.

I can find you 20 pro rally cars with off the shelf cages and hundreds of european cars which do FIA events with off the shelf cages.

Turner motorsport uses Motorsport shells which come with cages.

Don't twist my words. My reference to T2 was in regards to the firewall pass through.

Just because you claim no one's done it for T2, which I highly doubt after looking at cages online, has no bearing on the cage's legality.

I think that's what we're experiencing.

I mean production, not one off deals.

Hey I never said that everyone had to agree with me. My opinions are just that, "opinions". If you dont want to read my posts or get the feeling that I'm spouting off misinformation then please like I tell everyone else white out my comments on your screen

Like I have stated in other posts I run an Auto-power 4pt "race" (no removable bars) roll bar in my race car because I drive it to and from the track. I have many racing buddies with full cages. Some of them custom, some of them off the shelf. I stated what "I would do" and what "I prefer".

Hey if you want to run a cage with the A-pillar bars in front of your face like the Autopower 6pt. then go for it man!

All I stated was that excellent welder does not = excellent cage builder.

And I also stated that I had not seen an off the shelf cage "that I liked". Where is there a problem with that statement???? And I had stated that the one off the shelf cage that I did like was the OMP because the fitment was very good. And I also stated that I was unsure whether they made one for the evo.

I never stated that there were no good off the shelf cages, I had just stated that "I havent seen one I liked". I never said "I HAVE SEEN THEM ALL AND THEY WERE ALL CRAP".....so please don't misread into my comments and bend them around what you think they mean.

Ok now lets try this again.......Almost all of the cages that I have liked were custom. Yes you can probably buy an off the shelf kit and MODIFY it to be good enough, but no off the shelf kit I have seen comes with nascar door bars, nor come with plates to weld to the body of the car. If there is one please show me it as I said I havent seen it. It may exist, but I have not seen it.

BTW here is my car that I run the 4 pt in at buttonwillow. Fun in the sand

And just for clarification I have never had an SCCA cage in any of my cars because I have never owned a truck to trailor the car, so I have always run 4pt rollbars.

But ever since I got the Titan I have been looking into and researching cage builders in northern CA and found the average price of a custom cage to be in the 3K-4K range depending on if you want chromoly or not, and depending if you want to have dilled plates welded to the pillars.

Also all of the cage builders I have talked to would not guarantee their work if the materials were sourced outside of them. So you can rag on me all you want, but I just stated my opinion and thats it.

BTW thats a nice list of track wins that you have there. I dont doubt for a second that you have more track experience than most, but that doesnt give you the right to twist peoples words around and bash on other folks. We are all here to learn.

I'd try emailing OMP America. I'd be curious, too.

Who cares? I just want to know what you think is wrong with the cage.

I dont think there is anything specifically "wrong" with it, but as stated before I prefer nascar style door bars for ease of entrance and exit, which are apparently not popular outside of the US. I know Japan and Euro cars tend to have the X style door bars.

Another thing to remember is that some of these cages in this thread are designed for specific forms of racing and might not be an "end all be all" answer for all types of racing.

For example a "rally cage" is not designed with getting T-boned by another car at 150+ in mind, since rally doesnt have other cars out there at the same time. But rally cages do have to keep in mind hitting trees and whatever other natural obstacles occur out there.

Guess the pics were too big?
