classes...?

i think im just too retarded to comprehend the SCCA Rulebook...

could someone compile a list of all the classes the Evo is eligible for and state the modifications that are allowed?

this is just too complicated for me.

Are you referring to auto-x, time trials, or racing?

If auto-x, then:

Stock: AS (cat-back, tune w/o boost control, shocks but no springs, race tires with stock wheel size I think)
Street Tire: STU (street tires, cat-back, tune w/o boost control, suspension)
Street Prepared: BSP and SM (don't know the BSP specifics, but you can have race tires and suspension, but no cams or turbo modifications - SM is almost a catch-all)

There are more specifics, but this is a good start, I hope.

Stock class A-Stock
ECU must stay the same.
Stock diameter wheel =/- 1/4th inch offset. Any DOT approved tire.
Plugs and plug wires are open.
Front Sway bar is open, no rear bar change or addition though.
Cat-back exhaust.

STU (pretty much got it above)

BSP pretty much got it, boost control is allowed here, no internal engine work or turbo swaps still DOT tires.

SM: a lot, but then sometimes very little.. anywhere from here on up you really need to go over the rules with a fine tooth comb.

GP or XP i think similar rules, XP is kind of a cross between SM and Prepared rules though so more allowed here.. this is the first class you can run slicks and totally gut the car. I think you can even run tube frame, but with a weight penalty.

EM: E-Modified, pretty much anything goes, want a mazda rotary in it, this is the class.

thanks that makes it a lot easier...

BSP allow coilovers and up to what width tires?

okay well this is what i have

coilovers, FMIC, upper and lower IC piping, intake, tubular manifold, downpipe, test pipe, catback, underbrace, braided brake lines, lightened flywheel, no tune, 245 tires...

where does this put me? what can i add to that class? or what can i take away to be "higher" up in a "lower" class?

i hope im making sense

With what you currently have, I think you would be in B Street Prepared (BSP) class. You should look up the rules for Street Prepared class in the rule book. To be competetive in BSP with what you already have, first and foremost you would NEED R-comp tires (eg: Kumho V710s or Hoosier A6s) ...

I think tire sizes are unlimited as long as they don't rub ....

Does upgrading a clutch bump up in class?

STU allows turbo-back with a high-flow cat.

There's a good description of what's allowed here:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=174189

even though it's a Subaru site.

The underbrace would kick you out of BSP for sure, but if you are a newbie with street tires, I'm sure no one is going to protest you...especially if you only run Regional events. As far as tires go...R-compund and as big as you can fit, at least 285's. The above link it pretty thorough. Good luck.

thanks for the link. it was helpful but it didnt mention anything on coilovers or replacement of struts and springs. it did talk about camber plates and bolts.

Sure it does:

Stock Rules (DS, GS)
Shocks that maintain stock ride height, can be adjustable. See rule book for details!
STS Rules
Shocks (fewer restrictions than stock). No electronic adjustment, like Tein EDFC!
Springs (can be height adjustable, e. g. coilovers).
