Yes, the GMG Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car is a car that races in SPEED World Challenge GT, as mentioned by another poster...... And yes, they are a BIG team with serious effort and alot of money behind them...
So the bigger testament is that several "tuner" cars gave these guys a serious run for their money. The JIC Magic/Hankook Nissan S15 Silvia "drift" car and an EVO tuned by AMS were within a couple of tenths of winning the overall event.
I guarantee you that by the middle of this year, you will see the "tuner" cars begin winning these events over the "race" cars. If you really think about it, what makes the Silvia or the EVO any less of a "race" car than the Porsche? Nothing.....
The tuner industry is taking advantage of our time attack events to prove to the industry that they need to be taken seriously. Our events serve as proving grounds to manufacturers, tuners and racers of all levels and we are seeing the beginning of a maturation of the "tuner industry"..... Hopefully all of you will have a chance to come out to one of our events this year so you can see for yourselves. :-)
Great job to all the teams and drivers this past weekend!

nikolas, will the GMG car be traveling to ATL and WV?
btw looks like we will be at all of your events this year! either with Nils on the west coast and our shop cars on the east. Again great job on the event and im happy to see this type of track events.

yeah.. i dont know why its even brought up.. in fact the porsche is bound by rules from another racing series... i mean what does the skyline make? 700HP?.. what was the AMS car making?.. at least 550?.. GT3 makes like 475?

Obviously this is no disrespect to JIC or AMS, they both have really amazing cars and amazing crews and run very professional organizations. I just don't think it is fair to classify "unlimited" class cars with restricted race cars, no matter the budget.
I'm done whining
