Evos win STU and SM at the Peru Tour
Jarrod (Evolutionary) and his new purpose-built IX RS took 1-2 at the Peru SCCA Tour this weekend, it appears. Andrew Lieber of Showcase Mitsu BSP-championship fame co-drove and took the win by a full second with Jarrod coming in 2nd a full 1.8s ahead of the 3rd place Bimmer.
In STU, Evos took top 4!!! Ok, there were only 4 in STU, and all were Evos, hah. In BSP, the top Evo got edged out on Sunday by an STi, so Evos took 2nd and 3rd.
Guys from my region took 1st (STS), 2nd (FS), and 3rd (ESP).

In BSP the STI that edged out the Evos to take first was another sponsored driver. Good job, Justin!
Way to represent as sponsored drivers & the product, guys!

It was an absolutely beautiful weekend - you couldn't have asked for better weather!! The EVO was running pretty good - still on stock boost and pump gas with just an Email tune. This weekend was the first time on Hoosiers and with our new big rear wing. Andy has always used Hoosiers on his past cars, but I have always run on Kumhos. They really feel alot different. I think it will take a little getting used to and maybe a little suspension tweeking to optimize for the Hoosiers. While the car felt fairly neutral on Saturday, on Sunday we were getting alot of front end push on corner exit. Could be the tires, could be the cooler temps Sun. morning. We didn't really make any changes, just drove around it, because the car is set up primarily for asphalt. We are running the Milwaukee Tour next weekend so we'll see how the car feels on some good asphalt. . .
Justin (STI) was consistent all weekend. Not to detract from his success - rather just to clarify what I think happend, I talked with Aaron Miller (BSP EVO) between his 2nd and 3rd runs. I don't think he realized he had coned his 1st 2 runs. He thought he was sitting comfortable in 1st with a fast, clean run, so he was just going out to have fun his last run thinking he had 1st place tied up. If only someone had told him he coned both, things may have turned out differently. Had any of those runs not had cones he would have beat the STI by around a second for the 2 days. But, consistency often beats out raw speed. . .

Congrats on the wins! I just bought an EVO IX RS. I've been AutoXing locally for 7 yrs now, but I'm new to the EVO (former STi owner
). I had people telling me I should've gotten a base GSR model because of the ABS. What are your thoughts after racing your RS? It's obviously setup right or we wouldn't even be talking about your win.
If you could do it over again would you go RS or another EVO model?

If you could do it over again would you go RS or another EVO model? As for your question, I would go RS again, for sure. The first race I did in it I locked the brakes up in EVERY corner. I thought I was going to HATE not having ABS. The next event, I didn't even realize it until someone mentioned it after the race - I didn't lock them up a single time. Now I'm about 5 races into the season and I rarely get a puff of smoke from one of the tires. It feels perfect, seemless.
Now, if it were a car I was going to drive in the winter in the snow and ice, I would opt for the ABS. . .

Thanks Steve! The setup is working great! After the event I packed up the car as is (didn't change a thing in the setup) and drove the thing 10 hours home! I love these coilovers! The front bar you recommended seems to be working so far. We'll get a real test this weekend in Milwaukee.
