Final Engine Tune for Targa Newfoundland Evo IX

I finally got around to posting the final dyno sheets from my engine
tune on the Evo:

Final Engine Tune for Targa Newfoundland

We ended up dialing back the boost by about 1lb and richened up the
mixture in general. This pulled down the area under the curve a bit,
but we're still putting out about the same peak HP. Overall I'm really
happy with where we're at, as I think we sacrificed very little power
for much better reliability for the event.

As usual, would love comments and feedback.

You're telling me! I did my last testing of the car this past weekend (a day Thunderhill and 2 days at Sears Point), and now it's just a matter of packing up the spares and getting ready to freight the car to Newfoundland.

I just realized you also own almost the same cars I do. I race the Evo, drive an 01 S4 Avant everyday, and sold my 2.5l '88 M3 right before I bought my Evo!

Yeah - I pulled up your '88 M3 for sale ad when I was looking to buy my M3.

It would be nice if my Avant was an S4, or better yet, an '01 RS4

Mine is well on it's way -- upgraded brakes, coilover suspension, stage 2 motor. It'll get the stage 3 motor with the K04's some time next year, and will be as close to an RS4 as is road legal in the US.

What are you running on your S4 (engine mods, suspension)? I've got the AMS chip and ABT springs/shocks...and I'm not really impressed. The chip seems to be really laggy, even with the K03's.

BTW, the evo looks great!

I had the stage 3 OCT; 330bhp/400lb.ft
- I would try to run catless for additional power before going with K04's.

I too had the Abt springs/shocks -

I'm running the AWE stuff -- AWE intake (inside the airbox), GIAC chip, and Borla exhaust. I'm really happy with the power on the car, although I'm spoiled with the Evo so now I want a lot more power.

For suspension I have the H&R coilovers. The car really needs the matching H&R bars as well, but this car hasn't been my priority with the Evo build going on (I do drive the S4 when I instruct at driving schools). That said, with a good alignment, reasonable ride-height settings, and sticky tires, the car handles pretty darn well.

Part of my problem might be the fact that the shocks (grooved bilsteins) are on their lowest position up front. I might be riding the bumpstops a bit too much.

peter, do you have any ecu logs from other rallys? so you would know how much time is spent in what load.

AFR's (11.6-11.4) still seem a bit iffy for 91 octane and beating the crap out of the car in a motorsports situation but they are way way way better than before which was ludicrous for 91 octane.

Just my 2 cents though.

The car has never been there before so we don't have a baseline. Running it on track is a good proxy, as the most abusive stages will be similar to a twisty road course.
