Cool A Lancer brave enough

This weekend, I took my Lancer (that's right, a Lancer and not an Evo) to Buttonwillow Raceway. The event was mainly for VWs and Audis, but I managed to turn quite a few heads with the lap times in my naturally aspirated family sedan. The Teins helped keep me on the ground and the Falkens stuck to it, and I was approaching quite a few GTIs and Golfs on the course Saturday and Sunday. Many of them would use their turbos to open the gap on the straights only to find me in their rearview mirrors after the next 1 or 2 turns, others simply gave up and let me by. My best laps were under 2:30, which was in the top half of the second group out of 4 (4 being the top dawgs). Anyway, here are some pics of a Lancer (not an Evo) on the raceway, something I don't think has been posted on this board to this day.

That turn was a b*tch, but it was the only true drifting turn on the course for me.

I closed that gap in a half lap, and was on his tail so hard through the esses that he waved me by coming out of them and approaching the final turn.

Thanks guys! Thanks Rob, your stickers were proudly displayed on my vehicle for this event, but don't expect any of the 500+ Audis and VWs come knocking on your door next week One of the vendors had a Lancer ES though, he gave me a honk and a friendly wave after coming off the course ona practice session... he did some pretty good driving for a bone stock ES!

Boe, maybe just a reprogrammed ECU and some engine mods will do but let me know if you ever want me to show you what YOUR Lancer could do on a road course (just 6 psi would be plenty enough)

you need to make better sells! I'm sure Rob would love VW and Audi guys knocking his doors down for products he doesn't have! J/K... did you get the ecu done yet? Would like to see how car would do with it. You are a pioneer in your own right. Good job

Thanks Boe. No $ = No Ecu (yet). Working on getting a better job and then Rob and I will talk about engine stuff.

Actually, tons of people were asking about my setup, and were asking who makes the strut bars and sway bars for the Lancer. Rob, you guys (RRM and RRE) are quite famous As soon as I mentioned "Road Race" their eyes lit up and the recognized the quality of the products in my car. Hmmm, maybe you SHOULD go into VW parts
