Ahh, see mine is a 3 point (the shoulder belts come together in a Y). Hey, I got it for free, and beggars can't be choosers. But if I had a 4 point, I'd attach the belts to the left and middle rear seat upper mounts, since those are almost centered for a straight pull. It wasn't as hard as I though to get around the mechanisms. You just have to make a conscious effort to retract the rear seatbelts if someone uses them. I figured Schroth didn't mention the child seat mounts so they are not "approved".

As for the streetable question, when I get my racing seats I won't be able to tuck the harness under the seat without uninstalling them and pulling them through the seat holes, so I will be driving daily on the Schroth harness. That brand is DOT legal, although I am hearing that it creates a risk if the roof collapses and your head can't get out of the way. So I gues I'd better not roll the car, or look more into this.

I have seen many use a 3 point harness for solo since a 4 is not required by the rules. Free is an autocrossers best friend. The y-harness is the easiest to install and to remove or hide away. I didn't like the idea at first of using a single point not designed for harnesses, but for autocross it is perfect. I know that if I had to install a rollbar to use harnesses, I wouldn't use one. Weight kills a solo car, especially a compact sedan disquised as a rally car.

BTW, I ws looking up the Corbeau knock-offs, and they don't make any claims to be street legal, or to mount to any factory seatbelt mounting points. I emailed them to ask, because they have this nice 3 point with a retractable shoulder section that wou can lock when racing.

Ummm, did we hijack this thread? Sorry, back to roll cages. Where can I get a roll cage for my Lanc... errr Evo?
