structure 00 where are you located. Can anyone give at least a estamated price figure to include a time fram for build and installation.

Alot of people with the evo seem interested in this project and have no information.

I am willing to be a test pilot if either would like to be a vendor for this forum.

As far as having my own business...i dont have one. I have built my own cage in my 97 mirage...the gst that i traded in...and about 5 other cars (92 civic, 02 wrx, 98 sentra, 67 mustang, and a e36 m3) . if anyone wants to stop by and check my work their more than welcome 2. as far as prices it depends on what racing your going to do...becuase i would need to build it up to those specs. most of my roll cages were scca or nhra spec. depending on what material, the size, and how many points your using would determine the price. to give you an example i have a 6 point scca spec rollcage and the materials alone costed me $180. the designing, and time to do this would be around a week 1-2 weeks depending on how crazy it comes out. if anything i can do a design on my new evo8(someone totalled my evo sitting in a parking lot!! ) when i get another one and send pics and give you guys and estimate on what it costs. btw if anyone wanted to know how i learned how to make them i went to wyo tech and graduated with a degree in high performance engines and chassis fabrication and automotive technology. i also graduated from the bmw step program and im currently working for bmw na in their product developement department as an enginering technician.

Evo VIII roll cage

Have you now resolved your search for a safety cage for your Evo VIII?

What type of cage were you look to have fitted? Is it for competition purposes, improved torsional rigidity, 4, 6, 8 point? I'm sure there are many competent companies who will qoute you and supply a cage for your car, but be sure that the addition of 30lbs + of steel is of a benefit in other areas of performance.

First, I should have never looked at those pictures. I miss my GSX so badly sometimes, and this was nothing but tears for me.

Second, When are you going to be done building the roll cage for the Evo? I am going to need one soon.

Try TAD Motorsports in Lake Zurich. They are the premier EVO rally car builders in the US. They will build you a proper roll cage, not a piece of crap.

Why do you want a roll cage anyway? A roll cage in street car is a a very, very bad idea.

Tracks won't let you run if you are faster than the 11 second barrier without a cage. Oh, and I have a lot of plans for the car that I don't want to discuss right now. However, my goal is to have a full interior Evo with a fully functional roll cage. Even if it means that my rear seats are essentially useless for passengers, I still want to keep them in place. Im just subtly going for a record or two with this car. I prefer to stay silent about the project until it is complete.....No, it will NOT be an all out drag race car that never turns left and right.

Thanks for the info about TAD. I have talked to them before, but they are a little far away from me, by about 4,000 miles or so. Maybe they could fab. one and then ship it to me for on-site installment. Who knows, we'll see.

Josh
