I've got a question on the front lip/spoiler thing. My OEM Evo8 front lip is busted. Anyone know of a good place to find a replacement OEM OR aftermarket?

I would run some fancy carbon fiber thing but they all look like cone killers.

Also per the rules it looks like a spoiler can extend/protrude past the front bumper but not a splitter. Everyone agree with that?

I just got a Rexpeed lip here's the link:

Trying to get that Black and silver thing going.. Oh BTW at the height you have your car at it will not last long on the street. It hangs about an 1" lower than stock.

I thought about that one, but based on the location of a good many cone marks on my bumper I think it will only be a liability (in terms of hitting cones).

I think I'll just go with an OEM lip again.

If the OEM bumper had more overhang I'd consider a custom small airdam/splitter (similar to what chronohunter had, w/shorter splitter lip) but the rules just don't allow for anything.

Eh? You mean you'll break the thing, or do you think you'll actually pick up cones that you wouldn't have with a stock lip?

Think about the speed you're going and the angle that cones are coming at the car. A few extra inches out the front makes no difference.

Has anyone tried running a simple air dam that extends all the way down to within about an inch of the ground. It would be a flexible, abrasion resistant material so the outside corner could "scrape" on the ground when the body rolls in corners. . .

It would have an upside down "L" profile with a 6-8" long vertical section and about a 1-2" horizontal section. You could sandwich the horizontal section beween the bumper and the lower lip.

That's what I run on my car, it's kind of what you're talking about but the upside down L is not sandwiched in between the bumber and the lower lip(I think it would leave a nasty looking gap) but bolted under the lip.

It's srapes the ground on high load but the material is soft and cheap enough that it doesn't matter. It also makes a substantial difference on how the front end behaves.

Nice

But you know there are folks out there who are going to say "you don't go fast enough in an autocross for that to have any effect. . . "

So we just smile and say "yep, it's just for looks"

^ I was at the Autox, Finger Lakes right... Who could forget the rubber snakes all over the course!

Wheel question for you guys:
I want to run 18 x 10's this year. I already own RPF1's in 9.5", looking for a black painted rim that is light and different from what I have.. Any suggestions? BTW I am running a big spacer 25mm in front and 5mm in rear.

All I have come up with is Advan RZ 18 x 10 +35 offset, but not sure if I am digging them. What I really want is the Volk TE37 in black with red stripe, but they don't come in 18 x 10.

I've been looking at that one as well, the question I have though is does it have the attachments to re-attach the stock undertray to it? I was told it didn't but thought I would ask someone who actually had it.

The lip attaches to car with screws and it has tabs that protrude out. From what I remember, I drilled a small hole threw tabs to reuse stock hardware for undertray. I have the new lip in my garage and have not installed it yet, so it is not something I just did. That lip did not last long with daily driving it and how low the car sits. What I can confirm is that I was able to use my stock undertray with the Rexpeed lip

Mike,

I've bugged Marshall about this a couple times now...they haven't found a significant difference between running their 18x9.5's & 18x10's. I know they ran the 9.5's for solo nationals this year (which Tom won).

Probably not worth the $$.

John

Thanks John, if that's the case I can get the Volks I want. The rims I have now were going to be used for Hoosier Wets. I thought most of the fast Evo's who run Nationally were on 10's, guess I was wrong.

well there is a theroretical advantage to running the wider wheels. I just haven't been able to measure or quantify any difference between 9.5's and 10's on Tom's car. The Miller's car has 10.5's in the front and 10's in the rear, and Aaron had Tom beat on raw time this year at nationals.

If i were buying a brand new set of wheels i'd buy 10's. I just can't justify buying a new set of wheels that are only a 1/2" wider.
