Volunteer points are good for 10 years from date of issuance and can be transferred to any entrant or driver you choose. They are good for all Midwest and Great Lakes Region events but must be used in the Region they are earned. If you bring family members or friends who would like to help out, they can earn free track time for you as well. They just need to be NASA members.
In addition to earning points, we provide you with a free lunch for each day you work, and you are invited to join the entire event community for a free picnic dinner on Saturday evening. Sometimes we get very lucky and a sponsor springs for a catered dinner party too. These are usually very nice.

You CANNOT work and drive the same weekend however.... If you have any volunteering questions let me know, I've been volunteering with NASA for 2 years now and know the program pretty well. I missed the original question otherwise I would have answered sooner; nice catch Al!
Poop! I would love to run sat and sun but would like to work Friday. Could I do that.
I would also be available on Sat and Sun here and there but as there will be a lot of Evos out on the track I don't know if I can pass that up!
Also as I have not done a NASA event prior I don't have a log book. Guess I need to get after it.
One side question. As I have run I think 6 days at MidOhio at this point and 6-8 at other places, are they going to want me to run group one in my first HPDE? If So I'm not sure I could handle that. I don't care to seem a ***** as I'm far from the fastest dude around but I don't care to get into a parade for a full weekend. I'm happy to have anyone ride with me as long as they like. I value the feedback of having a good instructor in the car but also like the idea of having fast cars to give the pass sign too and seeing how they put a line together.

Dan, you have 6 days at MO with what group(s)? What about the other 6-8 days? What run group do you run in with those other groups? My initial guess is that you belong in HPDE 3. Instructors are only required in HPDE 1, although you can get a ride-along at any point. Let me know what your experience level is and I can make a suggestion for you. If you are an HPDE 3 guy, cruising around in HPDE 2 will make you nuts!
I have been in C in most of my recent days with the PCA at Mid Ohio but it's painful at times sitting behind 5 guys in slow cars who don't want to give a pass sign until mid straight. Last time I went to MO with PCA I went to a NORPCA event and got in some hot water for just the above. Seems of the 3 guys who gave me pass signs there was one in a pack of 4 who I guess didn't. It was a bit hard to see as I was at a location where they asked us to pass on the right and it seems the guy was a 944cup racer or something who didn't like to be passed by a Japanese car. Brother turned me in and I had to be super extra good for the rest of the day. It was fine by me as it was a beautiful fall day and I was as always just happy to be at MO. With that said , I think a few guys in PCA may have a wee bit of a bias against non Porsches.
I think I would be ok in 3 but I would not care to be so boastful as to ask to be placed there. Other time has been at Beaver where I will be a group away from open lapping next trip back. I get signed off there after first session most trips as well but like to invite folks to just jump in and give input. The track is getting pretty boring however but I look forward to going back at least once after I get my suspension done as I want to see how much time it cuts. I'm also excited to see that we will have a much longer and more complex version of BR soon. That is going to be a great place to run when its all done!
I would be happy to run in 2 for a session or two if they would be willing to bump me up to 3 after I show that I'm not going to kill anyone.
I do like to find fast folks who know the track and have awd seat time as the more folks I get input from the faster I get. I think the most fun I had at Beaver last year was just after my instructor asked "do you trust me?". I ended up cutting a ton of time off the back end and was needing to get on the brakes way early as I was giving everyone Evo suppositories I was flying up on them so fast.
In short 2 would be fine but 3 would be nice.
