Helmet Clearance issues?
Helmet Clearance issues?
I am 5'11" and plan to do quite a bit of DE events, and want to make sure there is not an issue with helmet clearance. Problem is I want a car with a sunroof, but my dealer has just one EVO in stock, and it has no SR. Next closest dealer is 2.5 hours away, and before I ask my dealer to swap for a car with a SR, I want to be sure I can fit in there with a helmet on.
Anyone out there having any issues?
Thank You
Michael

No, No helmet issues with my OZ. The onlyl reason I feel this is pertinent to share is because the EVO seats sit lower than the regular Lancer seats, and because Im 6'2" I feel you should have no problems even with the sun roof. Plus those loaner helmets at autocrosses are usually too big anyway, adding more height. So all in all, I think your ok.

I'm 5'10 and have a taller upper body and long neck, and my helmet just barely bumps against the ceiling of my Lancer when I have the seat upright, but otherwise I fit fine. But as they say, your seat sits lower than the Lancer, and you could recline the seat just a tad if it does get in the way. But one of the reasons I bought the Lancer is because of teh excellent head clearance (other compact sedans didn't even come close). Let us know how it goes for you.
I'm 6'5" and a lot of upper body height too. I have an OZ with a sunroof and I'm glad I do. I open the roof when racing so my head doesn't have to lean. You'd have a little more clearance without the sunroof I guess, but you'd lose out on the fun of having a sunroof, so wait and get one - you won't have any problems and you'll fit much better than I do. I can ride with it closed by the way - it's close, but just a little better to open it.
