The ***Official*** 2008 One Lap of America thread
.... yeah we're one of those guys unfortunately. Still a ways to go and already 2am. You guys are always one of the first to leave, Leh, and unfortunately, we are damn near the last every time due to all the work we have to do the car at each track (not a bad thing, just takes time)
Had a good showing at the road course (two 9ths), but the drag race hurt us a whole bunch too, f'n FWD (28th overall). NPR was a blast, I love driving that track but of course I'm biased. Doug takes over for CMP tomorrow (his 'home track'), then I'm back behind the wheel for BMW, which I'm excited about.
Blog is up, pictures probably in the am, though: http://www.trackpedia.com/forums/sho...1180#post41180

So why in the f' is that cayman so damn slow? With GT3 power it should be at least GT3 fast right?
With better handles and balance?
What gives?
Gonna shoe horn in a turbo motor next year?

There's something wrong with it, it's actually making stock Cayman S power right now.
Easy to tell by the trap speed, which is equal to or slower than a stock cayman S. They took it to the dealer today to see whassup.
we figured out the problem..... the variable cam system isnt working... so its like a honda without Vtec..... we were told we are were probably down 70hp....
but.. none of that matters anymore.. because we hit a deer on the way to vir tonight.... we are finished....
i drove the gtr... by myself...... for about 20 min today on back country roads... but i will post more about that when im not so sad...

well i know there is a deer missing somewhere between CMP and VIR and danny pop told me that they think it was a coyote they hit in the mongoose V1. when i was talking to him at NPR he said he actually kept some of the fur lol
Leh, that is an absolute raw deal man. Our luck has pretty much paralleled in this event, although yours was a bit less fixable than our brake problems and damage from that problem related to the off at BMW. I still hadn't gotten a chance to get over there and give you a sticker yet, ah well there is always next year.
