Here are some pics for this past weekend's rally. Once again Loeb is dominant on tarmac. Duval was back for Ford and showed why he's so valuable on the asphalt. However, due to team orders, he gave up 3rd place to Hirvonen so that the Finn could stay in contention for the driver's championship. Next stop Corsica!

We were looking through some images for artwork to use on upcoming WRC dvds and wanted to create some wallpapers.
This first set of wallpapers feature the Citroen Total team that's been kicking everyone's *** in the points race. Loeb is a machine and has such a smooth and steady driving style, not sure if anyone can touch him in the next few years. Images are linked to full-sized versions.

A few more here.

Saw this on the WRC website. This may provide some joy for Subaru fans after the announcement that they are pulling out of the WRC for '09.
Chris Atkinson is relishing the chance to compete on level terms with Sebastien Loeb and Dani Sordo when he takes the wheel of a factory spec Citroen C4 WRC on January's Rally Ireland.
Atkinson was left out in the cold after Subaru's shock withdrawal from the series on 16 December but was thrown a lifeline by Citroen a week later when the French firm signed him up to its new Citroen Junior Team.
For now the 29-year-old Australian is only confirmed as a part of the team for Rally Ireland, but Citroen Sport Technologies Manager Benoit Nogier said he believes the association will go beyond this event - the first of the 2009 season.
Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald Atkinson said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for me as I will be able to compete against Sebastien Loeb in a similar car and obviously my aim is to be as competitive with him and Dani Sordo as soon as possible."

It looks like Petter is going to run a 2006 spec Citroen Xsara for the 2009 season starting w/ Rally Norway and so forth. Too bad, I was hoping he was going to be available for the X Games this Summer.

Here are some pics from this past weekend's rally. This may be a reoccurring thing this year, but the machine Sebastien Loeb took the win; Latvala slide off the road on day 1 and ended up in 14th place. Sordo took 2nd w/ Hirvonen in 3rd. Henning took 4th after Atkinson went off on the last day. More Images Here!

Sweet, sweet snow rally this past weekend in Norway. Loeb beat out Hirvonen by a very close 9.8 second margin. Petter Solberg pulled off a 6th place finish in the Citroen Xsara.

Gronholm returns for Rally Portugal!!! It's on! I knew he couldn't stay away. Full article here!

Double World Rally Champion Marcus Gronholm has decided to come out of retirement to contest April’s Rally Portugal in a Subaru Impreza WRC.
The Finn, 41, will drive a latest specification Impreza run by Prodrive, with backing from Rally Portugal and its sponsor Vodafone. He will be co-driven by his navigator since 1995, Timo Rautiainen.
The appearance - which for now is being billed as a one-off - will be Gronholm’s first entry in a WRC rally since his retirement after Wales Rally GB in 2007.
“I made the decision a few days ago,” Gronholm told wrc.com. “It’s okay to come back again. Everybody is looking at me, and maybe I’m stupid, but to have fun and drive again, why not?”

i'm so tired of hearing about loeb. his driving style is way too conservative IMHO - makes him a pretty boring character.
Instead, Let's hear it for Henning Solberg who rolled his car, had his navigator kick out his windshield, so he could continue driving with -11F blizzard snow flying into his face.

Or petter solberg, who had his subaru broken on every other rally (surprise surprise), yet continues to throw it in full blown sideways on every turn.
Or gigi galli, which is probably mitsu's last redemption at WRC that italian CAN drive!

now those are some real WRC characters.

It seems that from next season will be WRC monsters replaced by S2000 without kit so same as in IRC. I thing it is a shame, but the WRC market was loosing since FIA prohibited WRC in local series. So basically no other manufacture wanted to join.
It is same time as when Group B was canceled, but the development can not be stopped.
To be fair, I have seen now some footage from vintage rally with M3s old Escorts etc and it was fun as well
