Hooked on Driving

I know this pains some of you who are in the snow right now but, I went to (PBIR) Palm Beach International Raceway, Saturday night for a HPDE named, Hooked on Driving. Yes, at night under the lights. I had a great time, and ran the last two "B" sessions with a couple of Vettes, my friends turboed NSX (blew the IC piping off 1st run, sheesh), a Rousch 427, and a M5. Can I say the M5 was pretty quick on crappy Kuhmos 280 wear tires. I gobbled the others up even though it was my first time on this track, so that made me feel good. Go me ! I had an experience down the back stretch where the rear on the car felt unsettled, and kinda wiggley under braking. How can I resolve this issue? Can someone please elaborate on the reasoning behind it, if it's familiar to you. Thanks for reading. Oh, and yay Florida winter track days!

When you hit the brakes, the rear lifts and the rear tires toe out. This makes the rear unstable. You can fix it with a bumpsteer correction kit.

and/or try different toe settings. I deal with that wiggle a bit (toe out) to afford more rotation when coming out of the corner that I've found only toe out can give. I must admit it can be scary at times though. Try pulling toe in about 1/16" total toe in will give you more stable stopping. The bumpsteer correction kit helps, but not as much as the toe.

HOD is a good time - plenty of track time. In the northeast, we also have mostly Vettes, Porsches and BMWs in attendance, more Evos needed!

Congrats. Glad to hear you're hooked. You can also try adding more downforce in the rear

You mean that big park bench on the trunk isn't enough?
