100 Acre Wood Rally

Bill and I are flying out to MO in a few minutes to service for Burak Tuglu and George Georgakopoulos. They will be driving a Ford Focus and Subaru STI respectively. If anyone is going to be out there, working/driving/watching come by and say hi.

I'll try to get some pictures while we're there.

too bad I didn't read this sooner. I was there, drove all the way from Ohio to MO to watch, and it was well worth it. Coldest I've ever been in my life, definately didn't dress proper since we left cincy, and it was 60. Bought all the warm **** I could at Wal Mart and it still wasn't enough.

It's incredible how strong the Subaru following is there, literally almost half the crowd drove Subaru's, but ohwell. Good experience, and makes me want to move to MO just to drive on those roads. We took my friend's eclipse and luckily not my car, because all of the gravel roads we passed on the way there, I would have drove down every one of them instead of going to watch the rally.

yeah I saw your car multiple times, and I've looked at it on here multple times too, I just didn't know who you were, and didn't have my car with me to discuss evo's. It didn't seem like the right time anyway, sooooo many dumb people there that I would stand next to, just listening to them talk about subies and evos, and why they pop, why they suck.... etc.... god almight.

"sti's can be all wheel, or rear wheel drive, they have a switch"

yep.

These were the two cars we serviced, a Ford and Subaru both part of the Rally-Tire team.

Tuglu/Wilburn Focus that won 2wd class

Evos had a good presence there. We met two engineers from Mitsubishi USA there as well as a regional sales manager. They were very enthusiastic about rally.

Andi Mancin's Evo from Poland (group N converted to US open class)

Tanner's new Evo X built by John Buffam and Co. In VT. (next to that is the NOS Evo driven by ACP and codriven by my friend Robbie.

Parc Expose

Tuglu/Wilburn Focus.

Mancin's Evo

Some of our tools about to get rained on.

Our service truck (the biggest one there) Lucky Juan was driving...

yeah we were there to watch Chris Greenhouse, he's from Cincinnati also, and is guiding my friend as he enters rally america next year. I want to be his co-driver, but I'll be graduating college this spring and don't know how my future's going to look 100% yet, so no guarantees.

But one thing that I wish Mitsubishi would realize, is how strong of a following there is with Subaru.... I mean, there were soooooo many "rally" styled Subarus there, it was insane, and it's because of the strong presence that Subaru has in rally, even though they dropped out of WRC, they're still present here, and it shows. Mitsubishi, may be present, but nothing like Subaru who have basically taken the most popular drivers under their wing. They may be exploiting the sport with action sports stars as drivers, but as far as marketing goes, it's obviously working, Subaru is dominating, and it's making enthusiasts who enjoy rally, go buy a wrx/sti 10x more then an EVO.

There are more mitsus now than for the last 4 or so years. Two on the podium. That hasn't happened in a long time.

I mean, I wish they were more relevant in terms of factory sponsorships. The more support Mitsu showed to the sport, the more support followers will give, and in turn, maybe even Ford would jump on board here in the U.S. too.

Seeing that many subies at once, and listening to them almost makes me want an STI again, but, not yet....
